As a regular customer of Tripadvisor we booked for a week holiday. As usual Tripadvisor does what it says, what you get is what you see.
THIS TIME IT WAS EVEN BETTER, and more beautiful than what the website showed, and said.
We called it a little piece of heaven...The location can't get any better...Everybody feels at home with this family business...As a world traveler, I know a GREAT room from a poor one, these rooms where GREAT...Going on a holiday, we always look for something special, this is a special place, and we're going to go back for certain.
A friend told us that the food was delicious. The food was excellent, even better than I our friend told us. The service couldn't be better, a chat here and there, but still high standards. It's like eating at a haute cuisine restaurant, next to a pool in the house of a very nice, warm hearted family. A very nice, funny touch after souper. Quiet place, respect for privacy, ask and you've got it...A PLACE TO GO BACK TO !
For those travelers seeking the ambiance of the Corsican countryside and the sophistication of a 4 star hotel, Poisson Rouge is the place to go. Located about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the town of Bonifacio, the southernmost city in Corsica, this quiet B&B has it all. A large fresh water pool greets guests as they return from the wonderful surrounding beaches and historical sites. A delicious 3 course home cooked meal by the owners can be ordered in advance. Ours consisted of vegetable ravioli, osso buco and gateau au chocolate. Viva France, Viva Corsica!
When going on holiday, we always try to find a quiet, friendly, comfy place that is not too remote to visit the sights. Well, Poisson Rouge fits the bill 100%!
We spent 3 nights there late September 2011. When entering the property, we were amazed how splendid the whole place looked! Large swimming pool, big well-looked after garden still full of color, original features (pizza oven), and the kitchen, lounge area, and the rooms scattered around this beautiful garden.
We received a very warm Italian welcome by the owners and were shown to our room. Which was roomy, comfortable and cosy. Bathroom was really nice! Private patio area outside the room is also quite pleasant.
As this is a B& B, the room comes with breakfast. That certainly was quite sufficient.
You can opt to have your evening meals here as well. And we could certainly recommend doing this! You'll get a starter, a main course and a dessert, wine included, coffee or tea afterwards. If you're into Italian food, you will love this! All is homemade by Angelo, who will go fishing in the morning to catch your evening main meal - if you're lucky. Much better than the tourist traps in town...
This town, Bonifacio is just a few minutes' drive away. Well worth a visit. Take a boat ride to see the cliffs from the water.
We also spent a day in Bavella, up into the beautiful mountains.
It's an excellent B&B...
but don't tell anyone!
Lovely B&B run by a young Italian, with help from her parents in the kitchen. Large rooms and beautiful well-kept garden that offers quiet corners (with hammack or picknick table) for guest seeking privacy. We thought the place looked even better in real than on the photos of the website. It is well-situated also, a 10 minutes drive from Bonifacio.
Using the ‘table d’hôtes’ is well-recommended: the best food (courgette-salmon soufflés, stuffed squid and homemade sorbet) we had during our 10-stay on Corsica.
And the price (130 euros off-season in a double room/june 2011), well, it seemed high for a B&B but we noticed it was in line with prices elsewhere in the southern part of the island. Warmly recommended.
