This is a lovely place to watch birds and relax. The amenities and service is top notch and they do a lovely breakfast. A good place to meet other travellers as they have a library and common room areas. This area has a cool climate so the room gets cool in the evenings, though we didn't use the heat. WiFi in all areas but no Tv if you need that. There is one small place within walking distance for supper otherwise a short drive to Volcan or Cerro Punta.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very good.

We returned to Cielito Sur for the Christmas Bird Count which is organized annually by the proprietor, Glenn Lee. It is always tempting, instead of rushing off before dawn without breakfast, to sleep to a reasonable hour (7am) and rise to a tasty breakfast made from their organically grown fruit, their juices, their coffee, their berries and then wander out to the terrace to watch their spectacular birds at the well tended feeders: seeds for the finches and grosbeaks, fruit for the tanagers, flowers for the gigantic hummingbirds... Also tempting to wander their extensive, neatly tended gardens, visit their happy chickens, and back for a coffee. So this year, that is what I did. Such a rewarding spot, so peaceful, so well tended. Perfect.

Room Tip: they are all lovely and similar except for their custom decoration with native american artifacts, each room a different group.

Cielito Sur Bed & Breakfast Inn was one of our favorite places to stay in Panama. If you are visiting the Volcan region, this is the lodging to book! It is a nature lovers haven; even if you are not there for the birds, and other fauna and flora, the accommodations are terrific. The rooms are large and comfortable. We stayed in the Mola Room and it was amazing. Their eclectic collection of Molas and attention to detail was very thoughtful. Plus there was everything to make a person feel at home from sofas, drawers, and chairs to tissues, shampoo, security safe, lantern, heater, etc. Their home-roasted coffee and home-cooked breakfast, which included fruit and veggies from their garden and eggs from their chickens, was fresh and delicious; it was one of the best breakfasts that we ate in Panama. Their grounds were lovely, the little gift shop had a nice assortment of indigenous art and reference materials, and the hosts, Glen and Janet, were helpful, interesting, and caring people. Additionally, the bird watching was excellent, including at the nectar and fruit feeders and on the two trails. There were many beautiful violet saber-wing, snowy-bellied, and scintillant hummingbirds along with other flying gems. The only thing we did not like was that we were unable to stay longer than three nights. (We did not have enough time to explore all the wonderful areas around Volcan either. We discovered too late that we preferred this side of the mountain better than the Boquete side.)

Room Tip: They all appear to be excellent choices.

We just returned from a 3-night stay in Cerro Punta with Glenn and Janet at their lovely B&B. We learned a lot about the area and Glenn provided us with maps to help us find our way to the best restaurants, coffee, honey, and best of all, the Quetzales at the National Park nearby. To say they have some history in the area is an understatement. Janet's family bought the property which is now Cielito Sur back in the 50's. The mature gardens are immaculate and colorful. The 12 varieties of hummingbirds take your breath away. Always in the background is the sound of the creek rushing by from their own spring. Breakfast was different every day, always lots of yummy fruit, breads, cheeses, homemade yogurt and granola, etc., followed by a choice between 2 breakfast entrees. The large rooms are super comfortable with high quality bedding, comfortable furniture, and lots of space for clothes. We hated to leave and can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: All the rooms are spacious with attention to detail.

This was our first trip to Panama, and our party of four (2 couples) spent three weeks exploring different parts of the country. We made all the arrangements ourselves, and were quite excited about our stay at the Cielito Sur B&B in Cerro Punta. We were not disappointed. Janet and Glenn run a lovely B&B with comfortable rooms and inviting common areas. Their property is like a small botanical garden with paths to walk and enjoy it all. Breakfasts were delicious with an abundance of fruits and fresh juices, breads and homemade jams, cereals, and always two different hot entrees to choose from. Glenn was full of information on the birds in the area, and was very helpful in arranging transportation for us to hike the Trail of the Quetzales from Cerro Punta to Boquete. He even set up dinner reservations for us at Fanny's Terrace Bistro--a fabulous restaurant that only serves dinner when requested. (We had dinner here twice!) This is definitely a place I would stay again, and recommend enthusiastically to other travelers.
