We just returned from a 3-night stay in Cerro Punta with Glenn and Janet at their lovely B&B. We learned a lot about the area and Glenn provided us with maps to help us find our way to the best restaurants, coffee, honey, and best of all, the Quetzales at the National Park nearby. To say they have some history in the area is an understatement. Janet's family bought the property which is now Cielito Sur back in the 50's. The mature gardens are immaculate and colorful. The 12 varieties of hummingbirds take your breath away. Always in the background is the sound of the creek rushing by from their own spring. Breakfast was different every day, always lots of yummy fruit, breads, cheeses, homemade yogurt and granola, etc., followed by a choice between 2 breakfast entrees. The large rooms are super comfortable with high quality bedding, comfortable furniture, and lots of space for clothes. We hated to leave and can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: All the rooms are spacious with attention to detail.

This was our first trip to Panama, and our party of four (2 couples) spent three weeks exploring different parts of the country. We made all the arrangements ourselves, and were quite excited about our stay at the Cielito Sur B&B in Cerro Punta. We were not disappointed. Janet and Glenn run a lovely B&B with comfortable rooms and inviting common areas. Their property is like a small botanical garden with paths to walk and enjoy it all. Breakfasts were delicious with an abundance of fruits and fresh juices, breads and homemade jams, cereals, and always two different hot entrees to choose from. Glenn was full of information on the birds in the area, and was very helpful in arranging transportation for us to hike the Trail of the Quetzales from Cerro Punta to Boquete. He even set up dinner reservations for us at Fanny's Terrace Bistro--a fabulous restaurant that only serves dinner when requested. (We had dinner here twice!) This is definitely a place I would stay again, and recommend enthusiastically to other travelers.

Glen and Janet are friendly and informative hosts, very helpful with advice re birding and restaurants in the area. The breakfast is excellent with everything we could have wanted. Fruit, yoghurt, toast, butter and jams, and a choice of two hot breakfast items, but real bacon would have been better than turkey "bacon". And coffee and tea. The bedrooms are spacious and well furnished and quiet at night although a road is nearby. The verandahs offer chairs and tables and are a good place to watch hummingbirds and other birds from. The bird feeders and nectar feeders are kept well supplied with food for the birds. The library/lounge has lots of chairs, sofas and tables and also lots of books, including many books on Panama, and also a filtered and hot water dispenser and tea bags. This is a great place to be, very comfortable and pleasant. We also had our laundry done here.

I know that sounds effusive but one of the things we've discovered in our travels is; if you love the place you live and you love the thing you do, other people will start to love it too. Cielito Sur is a place like that. Clearly, Glen and Janet have put their hearts into making this B&B a place of tranquil beauty. Accommodations, breakfasts, friendliness, and the hosts willingness to share their extensive knowledge of the area and its flora and fauna add up to making this one of those magical places not to be missed.

Room Tip: Two of the rooms have a small kitchenette which comes stocked with Glen's home roasted coffee. A great way to start the day is early morning bird watching beside a spring fed stream with a great cup of joe. A small 2 bedroom cottage is available. Great for families.

Having just stayed 4 1/2 days in Boquete, Panama for the Boquete Jazz and Blues Festival, arriving at Cielito Sur was just what we needed to unwind. Janet and Glenn Lee introduced us to their rooms and grounds that are a jewel not to be missed. A lush tropical highland garden with rushing spring waters and clouds of humming birds, blooming orchids, and organic produce all around. They are the most accommodating and warm hosts that you feel welcomed into their home.
We stayed the previous 2 nights at a supposedly 5-star gated golf community hotel in a hidden valley in Boquete and thought the grand place was way over priced and hyped for the money.
It was a treat to end our road trip at Cielito Sur! We highly recommend it.

Room Tip: All rooms have the sounds of the bubbling springs, the water is the best around..
