“Great instructor, annoying manager”

First the good: Our instructor, Brendan, was awesome. It was our first time diving and we did the open water certification. He was very laid back and made us feel very comfortable.
The bad: The manager (owner?) Adam, however, rushed us through the book portion of the course and seemed to have a snarky comment every time we saw him. I asked ahead of time if it was best to do the book portion online at home and he really seemed to lean toward doing it onsite. However, it felt like him having to set up a computer for us was annoying him and when we were taking too long he would pop into where we were working and push us to just focus on the review questions. Perhaps he just wanted us to enjoy ourselves and finish up, but it was like a typhoon outside and he was otherwise full of bad attitude. We asked if there was anywhere we'd be more likely to find vegan food and he said flatly "America", though there was a restaurant literally two doors down, with clearly marked vegetarian items. And oh yeah, it turns out he frequents the place. We also arrived at 8:45 on two days (after being told to arrive "around 8:30") and got snide comments from Adam both days. The equipment was a little shabby as well. Almost all the wet suits were torn, with one giving my husband a big welt under his arm from the friction of a bad seam. The first snorkel I was handed had black spots all over the inside of the mouthpiece, which might have been innocuous, but looked disgusting. So while our instructor was awesome, I might not recommend going to Dolphin Dive if you are easily annoyed by jerk people or are picky about equipment, as I am.

I apologise that these customers did not fully enjoy their experience. For us to be able to run courses with multiple students it is important that we have a schedule and aim to stick to it. For that reason we always state the start time AT 8.30am, never "around", especially if there are other students who we do not want to keep waiting around. Clearly this was not properly understood by these students if they were consistently late.
Also we need to ensure that the study schedule is progressing as per plan and either myself of one of the other instructors will often check in on progress as videos are being watched as per our instructions. Its not uncommon for us to have to give people a reminder of what we've already asked them to do, in this case that reminder had to be made multiple times in order that the course could stay on track.
I am not aware of any restaurant offering vegan menu options, if these customers had asked where to get vegetarian food however then I could easily have pointed them in the direction of a few places that offer great food.
Yes some of our wetsuits have been showing signs of age, in fact in the last couple of weeks we have had a delivery of new equipment and were therefore able to dispose of some of the older ones rather than keep using them.
I am glad though that you enjoyed the instructional aspect of the course and the diving.

Did a single morning dive with Dolphin Dive (dive #2 of the morning was cancelled due to the conditions). Easy setup, divemaster Stefano seemed competent and the boat ride was straight-forward and easy. Dive spot was OK (we got a relatively "bad" day). Definitely would go diving with them again.

We got our Open Water certification at Dolphin Dive and couldn't be happier. On our three day course, we saw nurse sharks, stingrays, starfish, cowfish, trumpetfish and sea turtles – all while learning the basics of diving from confident, excellent instructors. It was exactly the active getaway that we were looking for. With the open water package (certification for two plus five nights at the Hotel Delfines), the value can't be beat. Definitely do the night dive if you can.

My boyfriend and I both got Open Water certified while on LCI at Dolphin Dive. The manager is British and not very outgoing, so don't expect him to go out of his way to welcome you to diving. Our instructor, Sandy, was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She was so experienced and nice that I would recommend anyone to go to Dolphin Dive just for her! She freelances for all the dive shops on both islands so she may not always be there but if not, the other instructors are really nice and answer any and all questions willingly.

The reefs were pretty and Sandy made sure we saw cool plants and wildlife like angel fish, nurse sharks, lobsters, trumpet fish, rays, etc. It's also only $300 which is a steal!

We dove with the Dolphin gang for a week in April of 2014.
We had a great week of diving. All the equipment supplied was in good condition and we had no problems with any of it. The dive sites are not a long boat ride and the boats were set up with gear before you headed off.
The dive masters - we never had a bad one - knew there stuff and let the experienced divers roam and helped any who needed a hand.
A great week of diving.
