“Best Location on the Island!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2014

We were fortunate enough to stay at Casa Iguana the first week of May. We did a good job of scoping out the different places and here is why Casa Iguana is the best place! 1 - Medium price range of the different places. Can you stay somewhere cheaper? Sure. But you won't get the great property that Casa Iguana has. The grounds are very private versus a beach bungalow where you are right next to each other. You are up on the cliff so the breeze makes the temperature very comfortable. The views from your Casita are the best of the island and the walk to the village is an easy 10 minute walk, this is something you should definitely research if you are looking at other places as some of the others on the North side are up to 30 minutes to get to the village! The lobby has free wifi and amazing breakfast. Get the coconut french toast, I have dreams about it! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We were there for a wedding and they went out of their way to make it comfortable for our group. We stayed at one of the Grand Casitas, comes with two futons. This was overkill for two people and I would definitely be more than happy with one of the smaller ones in the future. We will definitely be returning to Little Corn Island and wouldn't even consider a place other than Casa Iguana!

Nice view of the beach from the restaurant and has wifi but that's about all it has over other accommodation on the island. We had a two bed cabana which was actually one fold out couch the didn't fold out properly and a normal bed. Went to one of the private coves they have for a swim but the woman at reception failed to tell us that it wasnt suitable for swimming. Is full of sharp coral and very rough waves.

We loved this place, it's not the cheapest on the island but here's what you get:
- a lot of privacy, but not far off like Ensueños
- your own little cabaña with ocean view and a set of 2 hammocks on the porch
- great restaurant for breakfasts (yes it's 3$ more expensive then the others, but you are here for the view and unlimited coffee!)
- you get 10% of the dive shop Dive Little Corn
- access to a great private beach
- access to some great snorkeling with barracudas and sting rays in the area

I personally don't think it worth getting a casita with private bathroom, as your shower is outdoors and you pay double, so cabañas are the way to go. We were used to shared bathrooms anyway at this point of our trip to Nicaragua. Also, the ocean breeze was way sufficient for keeping us cool at night, I even woke up with a sour throat one morning. Oh and just so you know, the volley ball field is up and running!

I stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights, and we both loved it. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and we had a great time exploring the pineapple grove, the private coves, and the paths through the jungle. Another really good thing about this place is that it lies right between the "city centre" and the more secluded parts of the jungle and the beaches. We rented a casita with a private bathroom, which was nice, although I'm not sure it's completely worth the extra dollars for the private bathroom. But we had an amazing view, and the casita was very cute. The food was also great, albeit a little expensive. Definitely recommend this place!

We stayed here two nights and whilst the location is great and the basic beach casitas were what we were expecting it is not worth £100 a night. Sheets very old, dirty walls and broken safe. Their grounds are lovely and views are fab but there are barely any other facilities on the beach whereas when we moved down to the beach we got exactly the same type of accommodation, literally on the beach for half the price.
I think they are resting on their laurels a bit at Iguana and either need to give the casitas a lick of pain and bit of love or halve their prices. Lady managing the place was very helpful though, they were doing works to the main building/bar/restaurant when we were there which meant even fewer facilities (but no discount).
Recommend Sunrise (Carlitos) on the beach for $45.

We arrived at LCI with no reservation and lucked into Casita #2 at Casa Iguana. It was a little spendy ($95/night) vs. some of the other options (our island friends said Delfines was $50 and so was Elsa's Place) but felt the view and privacy made up for it.

True, CI could use some face lifts in the sheets and mosquito nets but the towels were actually very fluffy and nice, I thought.

The casita itself was kind of like a camp cabin I stayed in as a kid but was perfect for the setting. If you want luxury, go to the north end resort.

The location/setting really is the best part! The views of the sea from the bed/cabin deck are unmatchable and the grounds are tropical, well kept pathways you can see in the photos. And you're just enough outside of the main "town" that you do feel like it's a private oasis and not so far that you don't want to leave (like Derek's place maybe - we walked up there one day but that seemed a little far).

I can't speak for the food at CI but the free coffee was a nice perk. Thanks for an awesome stay!

Room Tip: It seemed like all of the casitas I saw have a good view.

We originally stayed at a place on the north side of the island on our arrival but we were doing dive courses so we decided to move to somewhere closer to the village and chose Casa Iguana. The setting here is lovely and really chilled. It's up to you... If you want luxury and everything to be perfect then stay at Yemaya resort... Yes the casitas are a bit pricey but in reality you're paying for the location. The casitas could do with some maintenance but for us who were outside scuba divng and being beach bums all day, it was great to come back to the casita, have a shower and chill out on the hammocks listening to the sound of the sea whilst listening to music and reading a book. Each to their own really. But yes the place needs some updating.
