Dining options: Late Night, Breakfast
Description: Open for Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner, Tranquilo Cafe offers delicious and refreshing alternatives to the standard Central American "rice & beans" fare: Fresh Kingfish Ceviche, juicy Cheddar Cheeseburgers, catch-of-the-day Fish Tacos, marinated Chicken Fillet sandwiches, Quesadillas, House-made Chips and Guacamole, Vegetarian/Vegan options, and nightly Dinner Specials. With a recently added back-yard BBQ Smoker, we now feature succulent Baby Back Ribs, juicy Pulled Pork, and Mojo Chicken platters, along with our own BBQ sauce, and fresh made sides including our own fresh Corn Bread. Also featuring fresh brewed Nicaraguan Coffees (hot & iced varieties) and Espresso, fresh-made local fruit juice drinks, made-to-order fruit/yogurt Smoothies (including Minga's special; Banana-Avocado w/cinnamon and vanilla), daily-baked Cookies, Brownies, Banana Bread & Carrot Cakes, Ice Cream desserts, and much more. Famous for our Bonfire Parties, we're also the island night spot. A great laid back atmosphere, with a variety of music from all over the world (including local DJ Nights and live cultural music/dance groups). It's a terrific place to meet up with other fun-seeking travelers. Come early to our Happy Hour (5-7 pm), and check out the drink specials; Rum Punch, Sangria and many 2 for 1 rum drink deals. Also, the widest selection of imported beers on the island. Our deck is located right on the beach on the front side of the island, between the 2 dive shops, with a great view for sunsets and people watching.

My wife and I were on Little Corn for 5 nights. I'm sure that we were there every day, especially for happy hour. It isn't the cheapest place, but considering the location and logistics involved, they do a great job. The place is clean, the drinks cold, and the food really good. Even the french fries were really good! Oh yeah, they even have really good background music.

We enjoyed chatting with the owner and staff. They even helped us deliver some school supplies we schlepped out to the island.

Oh yeah, it even has wifi for those in need of the 'Net.

This is the sort of place that I would patronize again and again if it was located in my home neighborhood. Little Corn is a tiny island, so you will see people gathering at Tranquillos after work and playing during the day.

They even had popcorn during happy hour. Gotta love a salty snack with an ice cold beverage!

Mr. Adrian wrote about the best...fish...tacos...ever. They were good. Not best though!

“Great Place”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Unfortunatley when we arrived on the island Tranquilos was getting ready to close for 2 weeks so we only got to enjoy this place for one night. The staff here was very friendly, the beer ice cold, and though i only had one meal here i can say without question that the fish tacos were the best i ever had! Truely outstanding, and memorable! I really look forward to coming back next year, and hanging out more at Tranquilos.

“Best food and atmosphere on Little Corn Island”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

Little Corn Island was a hidden paradise in the Caribbean and Tranquillo Cafe doesn't fail to impress. After eating rice and beans for months and months, the food served was like home but with a local twist. I highly recommend the fresh local fish sandwich or fish ceviche washed down with a Rum and Ginger Ale. The staff were amazing, Julie and the team made my time here incredible and can't wait to get back,

“Bad waitress”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

She delivered the wrong drinks and then eye rolled and made a stink about the fact that I didn't want the unopened soda.

Food is good but expensive and Julie was just rude.

We're sorry that "Christaaaay" had a negative experience here at Tranquilo. We reviewed this situation with Julie, and the discussion revealed that there were some definite challenges in satisfying this guest that we sadly couldn't overcome. Our security video also revealed a different perspective of the situation than "Christaaaay" provided in her review.
One suggestion we do have for this guest in the future is to check the prices that are clearly posted in several places, as well as on the menus, before having a meal and drinks, and then revealing that you think the cost is too high, and that you don't have enough money to pay for it.
