Paraiso Beach Hotel

We were married at the Paraiso club in December 2011. The owners and staff coordinated our wedding and it was beautiful and stress free! They were very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. We had massages at the Paraiso, as well as next door (Italian lady) and both were enjoyable and worth the $. Everything from the scenery to the food was excellent.
Big corn island is very beautiful and laid back. Gorgeous blue water and nice beaches. After relaxing at the Paraiso Club, we definitely recommend exploring the island. We rented a golf cart and found that it was a great way to see the island. Tha Paraiso offers great food in a relaxing environment. Great place to meet and socialize with other travelers.

We will definitely return and will always share our fond memories of our wedding at the Paraiso Club! Thanks Ton, Mike, and all others!

The title pretty much sums it up. One unique experience....first piña colada I've ever tried that used tequila...not good, not at all.

I agree in part with Tacklow's review but will add that the owners are very accommodating and attentive.....and always available to assist in making your visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The ladies at the restaurant, which is the central social area too, are fabulous. Visiting Big Corn is like going back in time 40+ years. This island is not a tourists paradise but that is part of its charm. If you want a 5 star experience, this island is not for you. The food is good and there are some restaurants on the island that also offer inexpensive and very good meals....the owners are more than happy to assist with suggestions and transportation. No hot water, which seems to be the norm on Big Corn...no in-room safes but you can ask the owners to store your valuables in the hotel safe.

My only disappointment has nothing to do with Paraiso, but rather with the scuba diving, which was fair at best....in retrospect, and from I subsequently learned, I should have also ventured over to Little Corn for some diving.

Bottom line - very relaxing and the owners make every attempt to ensure you enjoy yourself. I also want to tip my hat to the owners who are very active in improving the life of the school children on the island. They put their money where their mouth is when it comes to giving back to the community. Also, for a couple of yanks, they made it possible to watch the Super Bowl in an unrented room with a TV. That's very good service!

Room Tip: I was travelling with a buddy so we were in the building out back in a room with two beds. There are...

Relaxing green area, near the beach, nice cabins, clean, comfortable beds.
no warm water, but we got used to it and it is not so cold either.
Warm hospitality by the staff and the owners who are very helpful and friendly.
we also enjoyed the restaurant, great food -from breakfast to dinner.
we will be back..

The Paraiso Club, like many of the "hotels" on Big Corn Island, offers spartan accommodation and spartan amenities with little to do except lie on the beach, cavort in the waves with the junior members of the local population, snorkel or take a trip around the island (one hour). There is no swimming pool and the narrow sand beach out front is far from private; in fact, taxis travel back and forth on a dirt road that separates the beach from the hotel property.
Accommodation is mostly provided in cabanas with thatched roofs; usually two rentals to each cabana though there is one single and a building housing three rooms.
The restaurant and bar on site are handy but a good 30% of the menu was not available (no beef or whole fish) despite daily promises of re-stocking. The rooms have no hot water or television but provide AC and fans. The current cleaning service is efficient and thorough.
Be prepared for a daily rain shower, even in the dry season, and bring plenty of reading material. The simplicity of the place is both its attraction and drawback. The addition of a swimming pool would do wonders as the narrow rock strewn beach rates fairly low after the glorious stretches of sand on Nicaragua's Pacific shores.

Room Tip: If you want privacy ask for the single cabana but realize it is close to the restaurant and bar so n...

A wonderful, laid-back beachfront ambience, the cabañas were basic and simple, but pleasant and roomy with nice patios and private hammocks. The owners were very friendly and helpful, even to the extent of guiding our group of four on a tour of the island, taking in a nice ice-cream parlour and a beach bar we would otherwise have missed. The hotel is right on the beach and very well placed for Brig Bay (10 minutes’ walk down the beach). There is snorkelling around the wreck just off the beach - and apparently also spear-fishing (check with the hotel owner, Mike). One of the hotel’s highlights is the restaurant. The quality of the food and the outdoor ambiance were excellent and service amiable and good. We had planned to eat at some other restaurants on the island during our stay, but we ended up eating at the Paraiso all four evenings (for reasons of quality, ambiance and convenience). The only slight drawback was the front desk manager, who seemed rather uninterested, slow and unhelpful at times. A great stay - we'll be back.

Room Tip: Tip: Take a day trip (or more) to Little Corn - visibly a much cleaner and more environmentally-frie...

The owners are helpful and friendly. The staff is slightly indifferent, but will help you with anything you need. My room was clean and comfortable. The beach is great and just a short walk from other places to eat. Booking was super easy via email and they got back to me very quickly. Room rates include airport transfers and breakfast, so you can't go wrong if you don't want to worry about too many details.
