Personally, I loved this spot and would definitely stay here again. I wanted to be RIGHT on the sand, spend my day under a big cabana bar, and have the ability to wander into the water for a quick swim at any given second, day or night. Check, check, and check! If you want somewhere romantic, classy, or spotless you'll likely want to avoid this place. If you want to be at the best spot on the best beach on the island you might like it here. At $50/night I thought it was great value, and I expect it to be quite a bit cheaper when not a holiday.
--The ceviche, which I ate 2 or 3 helpings of daily. YUM
--Ice cold beer
--French Toast: I don't think this had any egg batter, but it did have a cm thick crust of fried sugar and cinnamon. YUM pt II
--The AC in the room was quite powerful.
--Service is pretty much nonexistent. I bet you could stand at the bar for an hour staring at the gal behind it and not get the time of day. Be vocal if you want something.
--No maid ever visited our room. Perhaps if I'd asked they would have sent one, but there was so much sand on the floor I figured "what's the use." Didn't bother me, but it could be a problem for other guests...
--I ordered the "American Breakfast" and it was terrible! Go next door to Arenas if you want eggs and ham and gallo pinto.
If you're a backpacker, a group of younguns, on a budget, like to rough it, or only care about the beach, then this place is awesome. Like I said, I loved it. If you're on a romantic getaway, are a stuffy old codger or uptight gringo, or you just want a more upscale resort vibe, I think you'll be pretty put off by this spot. Arenas Beach might be more to your liking.
