Ok, it is extraordinarily expensive, but 'before you die' must experience. beautiful place, amazing food, staff is wonderful! we went there with 3 kids ages 1,4 and 6, and the long drive was still worth doing! Had NYE dinner there with kids sleeping in our room and the baby monitor on. Really worked... The pool is not he warmest, but the setting is breath taking... would love to go back to this place one day...

We arrived at night and so when we awoke it made the experience even more magical - stunning views awaited us at breakfast - sitting on the veranda of the Tientsin bungalow. Sadly we only spent two nights here - certainly wanted longer. The bungalow is set in glorious countryside with a lovely garden and pool. Food and service are first class - Mahesh and his team were very attentive without being intrusive. We met some lovely fellow guests and it felt like we were enjoying a private home in a bygone era. We visited the Norwood estate to see how tea is made which was fascinating. Experiencing Tea Trails has to be a must if you pass this way - we certainly want to return again ana again....

After driving for many hours from Kandy, through a beautiful road up the mountains and through the tea fields, we arrived at Castlereigh. Beautiful lodge, only 5 rooms, was a private House of tea planters. Very British. Beautiful view to the lake thow it was a bit empty for it was not the rainy season. (But thank God for that...) A fantastic stop and rest after touring through Sri Lanka with so much heat! Nice details such as tea and scones at 5pm and all inclusive. Very good food. Only one No which was a phone call when we had already left, to our drivers mobile, saying that an antique vase had disappeared from one of our rooms and if we had taken it... Strange, we were a group of 5 female friends, all in our 60', and not used to steel anything from the hotels! But we had immediately after a call from the GM of Tea Trails appologizing for that stange phone call from the Buttler at Castlereigh. I still wonder what really happened...
Overall a fantastic stay!!!!

We stayed at tea trails/Summerville bungalow last week for 3 nights. A truly unforgettable experience! The views from the bungalow over the reservoir were breathtaking. Food was fantastic, some of the best we've tasted in Sri Lanka thanks to our chef- Chaminda who prepared amazing dishes everyday.

Service from all the staff was first class in the bungalow. If you want a place to completely relax and chill out it doesn't get any better than this! Really enjoyed tea experience with Andrew Taylor.
Highlight of our stay was an excursion to Nuwara Eliya by train arranged by activities team at Tea Trails. Had a fantastic day thanks to Activities Manager - Anuradha and Wasantha (Guide).

Cannot praise them highly enough - they made the day a memorable experience for us.
Both accompanied us throughout our day ensuring that we had a wonderful train journey through beautiful countryside pointing out waterfalls, wildlife and telling us about surrounding area. Had a scrumptious picnic in Botanical Gardens followed by a walk around "little England". Nothing was too much trouble, stopping for photos on journey back to capture the amazing sunset.

Sri Lankan hospitality at its best- only regret is that we didn't stay at Tea Trails longer and arrange more activities with Anuradha and his team.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Goddard suite...very nice with pleasant garden setting and a side view of lake (alt...

We spent three nights here during our recent holiday in Sri Lanka staying in Nor wood. The bungalow is set in glorious countryside with stunning, far reaching views. Food and service are first class with the chef ensuring that he cooks exactly what you would like for both Lunch and Dinner. We particularly enjoyed our traditional afternoon tea each afternoon. Naturally we had Broken Orange Pekoe from the Nor wood estate.
We spent most of the time relaxing by the lovely pool but did drive to Teintsin for lunch one day which gave us the opportunity to see the local village and watch the women plucking the tea.
We enjoyed our visit so much we are already planning to return next year.
Believe me if you decide to stay at Tea Trails you will not be disappointed.
It is very special.

Room Tip: Choose a room with garden. We liked Irvine.

We stayed at Tientsin for two nights. We had a lovely room overlooking a garden and spacious bathroom. The garden was beautiful with a lovely infinity pool. The service was amazing with someone to suggest or help with the activities available. The chef came each day to discuss what we would like to eat and all the meals including a lovely high tea were delicious. In the evening there was the opportunity to meet up with fellow travellers for cocktails and exchange experiences.

This place was just amazing. We loved every minute of our stay and felt really pampered from start to finish. The staff were really good and very switched on and so helpful at dealing with all of our needs. The room was really comfortable and luxurious. Food was delicious. I'd definitely recommend the walk to Castlereagh (1.5 hours) and having lunch there and getting the boat back. Also would recommend the tea factory visit.
