We had a simply wonderful holiday to Sri Lanka booked through http://www.fleewinter.co.uk/ but The Ceylon Tea Trails were without doubt the highlight. Breathtaking setting, beautiful accommodation, excellent food and lovely staff. We are definitely going to go back. Damien was especially great.

We loved our threenights at the Tientsin bungalow at Ceylon Tea Trails. Tientsin (the former spelling for the Chinese city of Tianjin, which was a nice coincidence as we're expats living in China). Damien, the head butler, and his staff provided a fantastic experience. Tientsin has six rooms total -- we stayed in the Meares luxury room (warning: keep your windows closed or birds will fly in and leave their droppings behind). A hand-held shower head was the only aspect of our stay that wasn't ideal. Everything else - from the included laundry service, evening cocktails, mountain hike with the head gardener, walks around the Tea Trails property and tea factory tour - was amazing. No air conditioning here, but it wasn't missed. The gardens are amazing here. Guests don't lock their doors (during the day when you're out and about at least - you don't get a key unless you insist on having one), so the in-room safe was appreciated. We had amazing meals here, from breakfast to afternoon tea to dinner. We dined with the other guests one night in the dining room, which was quite pleasant. Tientsin is the farthest bungalow from the main roads, and the curvy roads lend themselves to carsickness -- but the destination is so worth it. (I'm surprised this accommodation is listed under "Kandy," by the way, as it's a healthy drive from Candy. We took a 1.5-hour train from a village near Kandy to Dickoya, where our driver picked us up again to drive us to Tea Trails.)

We had a wonderful 2 nights stay in the Castlereigh bungalow of Tea Trails during May 2008. As with the rest of the reviews here, the exceptional service, the gourmet cuisine and the unique location of the property won our hearts.

We were particularly impressed with the all inclusive package of Tea Trails. Though initially, we had thought it a bit expensive and on par with prices at hotels in the Aman Group, after our stay, we thought it was worth every penny. Considering the complimentary laundry (and it was wonderful to do have them do all our laundry after traveling for a full week), open bar and the tour of the Norwood tea factor with a tea planter - Andrew Taylor, it was a bargain!

OUr only gripe was the our room, the Tate, within the Castlereigh bungalow had a magnificent bath tub but the shower head attached to the tub did not have a shower curtain. Therefore, showering was a bit of a mess. We also walked to some of the other bungalows - namely Summerville and Norwood - the rooms there did have separate showers or curtains.

Overall, a wonderful stay in a unique location with experiences which were much more intimate than in Nuwra Eliya.

Highlight of a recent week's trip to Sri Lanka staying 2 nights here. As good as anything we have ever expereinced - or hope to. The best service we have ever had - beautifully understated. Great gardens and pool. We stayed at Norwood bungalow which was recommended to us. Make sure you do the long walk - you don't need a guide as v easy to follow - and the tea visit; both stunning! Food excellent. Do go for a curry (about 10 dishes!) as well as the western food. Just pretty much perfect!

We stayed at the Norwood Bungalow for two nights as part of a 10 night tour. This was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The rooms were great, and the overall service was exemplary - especially Mahesh. Visitors will enjoy the "all inclusive" nature of the stay, which isn't the case at a lot of other boutique properties in Sri Lanka. and can add quite a lot to your overall bill. The trip to the Norwood factory to see the tea manufacturing process was surprisingly absorbing too.

We stayed at Castlereagh for two nights in March and it was the most magical experience of our honeymoon. The service was fantastic, the food delicious and the gardens beautiful. It really was like stepping back in time: high tea on the verrandah, pre-dinner drinks in one of the two sitting rooms, four course meals with excellent argentinian wine and then port. Our room, Tate, had a four poster bed and wonderful views over the garden and down to the lake. You even get a great view from the claw foot bath! The stay includes a fascinating tour of a local tea factory and on the way back we got the chance to visit both Norwood (huge pool) and Summerville (floor to ceiling picture windows looking out over the terraced garden over the lake) which are equally gorgeous bungalows, although they are all different. We would love to go back.
