“Paradise in Yala !!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2013

It was our first camping experience and it was completely spot on... The Team at Leopard Trails were a blend of thourough professionals and true friends. We discovered Yala through the eyes Indy ( Dr Indiana Jones) , Jerome (Jerry) , it was a beautiful experience and propbably the best sighting of an alfa male leopard for 12-13 mins. Indy and Jerry are not only spotters but also track various species around the park. I would highly recomend Leopard Trails to all those who seek a luxirious camping experience with nature loving people. Folks who are looking for a hollywood angle also have another nature love in the form of Aron ( Leonardo Di Caprio ), he and Ishaan had our 4 year old daughter smiling for entire duration of our stay.... Leopard Trails we will be back for sure !!!!

Room Tip: There are only 4-5 tents, its extremely private so book in advance as they seem to be full prety muc...

Dear guest

Thank you for taking the time to write our funniest review to date! We have now started fondly referring to the three gentlemen at camp by the names you have created! We are glad that they guided and hosted you in a professional manner and yet connected with your group as if they were friends. It was a pleasure to host you and we hope to see you again sometime in the near future!

Thanking you
Leopard Trails team

These guys were pros! I have been on Safari and 6 camps in South Africa and Botswana and the staff here topped everyone! The camp is close to park and the tents are very elegant. The game drives were awesome and these guides (Allen and Jerome) were pros at putting you in the right spot and the right time to see the animals. The Food was simply amazing, you could stay at Leapord trails for the cooking alone! My wife and I need this adventure and get away from the kids, thank you to the entire Leapord Safari staff! We had an amazing safari!

Chris and Jenny

Room Tip: Stay at least 2 night minimum so you can have 3-4 game drives.

Traveled to Sri Lanka for the first time and went to Yala for a safari.

Great, welcoming staff. Very knowledgeable guides. If you can request a guide, Arran is the person to choose. His insight and passion for wildlife certainly enhanced our safari experience.

Would recommend this place to anyone going to Yala.

Saw Leopard Trails online and decided to spend 2 days at Yala with them on a recent trip to Srilanka. What really struck us was the personal warmth and friendliness and guidance provided by Indika and Jerome (The two wildlife specialists). We went on 4 drives with them and very soon it was like traveling with friends.
The tents were comfortable and the evening bonfires a wonderful to unwind and share tales of the day.
Recommend Leopard Trails unstintingly.

I can't say enough good things about Leopard Trails...from the moment we arrived, greeted by a cold drink and cool towels, to the luxurious tents, we enjoyed every moment, including waking up at 5AM to be the first in Yala . The food was, great, we met a lot of interesting people [Yala is a destination for travelers looking for a unique experience], and saw lots of wildlife, including leopards, jackals, deer, hornbills, monkeys, many elephants, mongoose, some huge mugger crocs... Arran was great...knowledgeable, thoughtful, and dedicated to making his guests feel comfortable and at home, and conveying his passion for wildlife...can't wait to go back and spend more time there...

Room Tip: All tents are great...

Arrived circa 1300hrs. Greated with a cold towel and drink, much appreciated.
Luggage taken to tent. Time to settle and congregate in the 'lounge tent' then a fantastic lunch prepared by Pani. An hour or so to relax then . .
1530Hrs off on Safari, within 20 Mins of being in the Park, Arran stopped the truck as heard Deer and Monkey's giving warning calls! A Leopard going to the Waterhole. We had 10 minutes of a private viewing. The Water Buffalo then frightened the Leopard off, Arran thought it may come arround, but it didn't and suddenly 15 trucks . . sorry you missed it!
I stayed three nights, getting up at 0445 Hrs, saw six different leopards, some only briefly, but also a plethora of life in the park, deer, crocks, mongoose, jackal, pelicans, kingfishers, bee eaters, monitor lizards, sloth bear to name a few.
Although somewhat ancient I have a Biology Degree, so I know my 'stuff', Arran also know's his and, I was suitably impressed. Arran obviously has a passion for the wildlife of Sri Lanka and his dedication to supporting that will hopefully enthuse others as it has me.
Pani cooked everthing, from traditional English Breakfast (incl Marmite) to Sri Lankan curry breakfast, rice hoppers etc He's built a Pizza Oven and on our trial they were delicious.
Arron & Pani are obviously the driving force, no problem, as they are hands on whatever.
Would I go there again. . . a deffinate YES!

We had a wonderful time at Leopard Trails. The campsite was set up very well. The tents were like luxury hotel rooms, very clean, safe and comfortable. The food was delicious. Loved the home made seeni sambol. But it was the safari tour that was the highlight. The guides obviously know a lot about Sri Lankan wildlife and were able to take us to areas without being crowded by other vehicles to see the animals. Highly recommend this experience. To all at Leopard Trails, we thank you for your knowledge and hospitality.

Thank you for your time in writing a review on Leopar Trails as your opinion is really important not only to us but also to our future guests.. :)

We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay! In particular, it is great that you noted the following aspects in your review:

"The tents were like luxury hotel rooms, very clean, safe and comfortable" - Cleanliness is very important to us and we are happy to read that you noticed this. Safety is also another factor we take very seriously both at camp and on safari. With regard to comfort, we feel that when you are with us in the jungles of Sri Lanka, with the spectacular night sky above you & enjoying fine food, great wine and even better company, comfort comes automatically :) Its a state of mind!

"The food was delicious. Loved the home made seeni sambol" - We take our food VERY SERIOUSLY! Our team of Jungle chefs thrive on knowing that some of our guests report the Leopard trails cuisine as some of the best they have had during their stay in Sri Lanka. We will definitely let them know that you commended their efforts (something we do with all our reviews).

"The guides obviously know a lot about Sri Lankan wildlife and were able to take us to areas without being crowded by other vehicles to see the animals" - At Leopard Trails, we strongly believe that top class guiding makes all the difference - it truly enhances a guests stay. Thank you for noting this in your review.

Thank you once again for the lovely review and we look forward to welcoming you again in the near future!

Best Regards,
The Leopard Trails Team
