We are a group of 8 ladies from Melbourne Australia. We stayed only 1 night but wished it was longer so that we could enjoy our surroundings. Your staff were attentive & lovely, especially Wayne. We went out on an afternoon safari & saw many animals but sadly didn't see the leopard.

Dear Liz,
Thank you very much for your review of us. We are really happy to hear that you and your friends had a wonderful stay. Generally to sight a leopard you may need 2-3 safaris although sightings are subject to many different aspects. Nevertheless Yala national park as you have witnessed has many interesting things to offer. We hope that you would be back with us in your future travels so that you can experience more.

This is the second time I have stayed at Mahoora in Yala - the facilities are excellent, games drives well organised and the experience, overall, was excellent.
We particularly enjoyed a demonstration of local cooking!

We stayed only one night in this magical place. Wish it had been more! A real escape from the bustle of the towns with just the sounds of monkeys and birdsong all around. The facilities are super and I've certainly not stayed in a tent of this level ever before! Very comfortable and the bed was gorgeously comfortable. The highlights of this stay was the friendliness of all the staff at every level, the campfire drinks under that amazing sky, the food which was delicious, even the tea which greeted us after our safari. A chance to meet other visitors and chat about the days sightseeing. The nightwalk was a lot of fun and our host informative and engaging. Our most talked about stay and the one we'd recommend the most. We loved every minute.

When we decided to organize a short break from Dubai, we selected SriLanka as it's a short flight away... and a new country to visit.

Our idea of holiday is to mix nature and farniente... Hence our decision to split the week between Yala N.P and Tangalle.

As our time was limited, I decided to select an all inclusive option (full board + game drives) with a single company. From the start, Mahoora team was really helpfull and gave all necessary info to feel comfortable with the selection.

The camp itself is very cosy (even if the tents are a bit old) and except for some rapidly solved issues (faulty water line, leak during a heavy storm at night) it's an excellent place to discover the Southern SriLankan nature.

Staff is super helpful and kind. Thanks again Mr Kamal for your help and support!
To me, only improvement could be variety of proposed food. Everything was really good (no complaint at all about it) but we would have loved to taste more local cuisine.

As we are seasoned "safarist", used to East African and Indian national parks and reserves, we knew what not to expect from Yala: density and variety of wildlife is definitely less than above mentioned locations.

However, quality of Mahoora's guides and naturalists made this stay a real memorable one.

Most of the N.P was not accessible due to seasonal closure. Our game drives were therefore limited to Block 1... where all Yala's visitors met. Few hundred cars (!!!) at the same time at the same place is usually a recipe for disaster.

However, both Wasantha KUMARA and Avinka PERERA always managed to find great spots away from the crowd... and we enjoyed some exceptional sightings (6 differents leopards in 6 game drives!!). On top of that, their kindness and deep knowledge of their country, its History and its Nature were absolutely amazing!

We will definitely come back and visit some other places... but we will insist of doing it with the same team!

Thanks very much again!

We (a family of 4) stayed at the Mahoora Tented Safari Camp Yala for 2 nights and went on 2 morning and 2 afternoon safaris. We received excellent service from Kamal and the rest of the team. It was nice to have the same driver (Pruimal - sorry if I have spelt this wrong!) for all of our jeep safaris and the same naturalist for 3 out of 4 of the safaris. We wouldn't have seen as many animals if it wasn't for the sharp eyes of the naturalist and driver. Unfortunately we didn't see a leopard but we did see plenty of other animals including a sloth bear, serpent eagle, an elephant and numerous different birds. The camp is situated on the edge of the national park and the drive to the gate takes around 20 minutes. Each safari lasts around 3 hours not including travel to and from the gate. The jeep was comfortable with 6 tiered seats (not including the 2 in the front) affording good all-round views. The tents were clean and comfortable with private facilities and plenty of plug sockets. The washroom facilities were separated from the sleeping area by a curtain and the fully flushing toilet and shower were perfectly functional and something of a luxury compared to traditional camping. Each tent accommodated 2 people in a double bed. In addition to the bedroom, there was also a separate living area. A fan was provided in each area. The beds were enclosed by mosquito nets with a plug-in mosquito repellent provided. The food was very good and served in a lovely open air setting under the stars. I booked through Booking.com and everything worked very smoothly. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Mahoora Tented Safari Camp and would recommend it to other wildlife lovers looking for a more rustic experience.
