“Nice Resort”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Food was nothing great, but the resort has good clean rooms.
Huge property with a lovely swimming pool.
Free Wifi in the lobby.
Check out Sasha's Shack outside the main gate on the beach.
The hotel provides lounge chairs during the day on the beach.

The 4 nights stay at this resort at Marawila was really splendid, mainly due to the stay, although it was a work trip. The property is lovely situated right on the banks of a backwater and faces the beautiful, serene sea! The property is well maintained, the rooms are spacious, the bar is nice, the lawns are beautiful and the swimming pool is just so stylish! however, the service had been a little laid back as I booked an overseas call which never got connected and I had also asked for a blanket which i never received. Apart from that, the food served by the hotel is also delicious and if one can ignore these little breaks in service, the property, the location and the resort is an ideal spot for a peaceful, stress free holiday!! In fact being there on a work trip I felt very jealous of the holidaying guests, as the place is just so suitable for an ideal break from work!! I would definitely return for a vacation at Club Palm Bay!!

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the backwaters

We have recently returned from our 3rd visit to Club Palm Bay and it just gets better. The service, the comfy rooms, yummy food and a great location makes this one of our favourite hotels. We have always been given a room overlooking the lagoon and it is so peaceful. Nice comfy chairs in the bar combined with excellent service The rooms are spotlessly clean, the dining room has a relaxed feeling and the porters, the pool boys, the gardeners do an excellent job and the reception staff are always ready to help. Step out of the taxi and it feels like coming home. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lagoon

Stayed over New Year 2012/13 and couldn't have asked for a better time. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the room was clean and spacious. The grounds were really nice with the only down side being that the private beach area isn't the greatest (or that private) - not much of an issue though given the enormous swimming pool and numerous sun loungers.

The food here really was something else. Every meal would have a buffet with countless options laid out ranging from Sri Lankan through to Western. The meal produced on new year's eve was nothing short of spectacular with a list of choices about a metre long.

Thanks for the stay, I'll definitely be coming back in the future!

We have just arrived home after 3weeks at the club Palm Bay .fantastic hotel ,incredible staff .room 144 was wonderful very large and overlooking the lagoon .room boys were great .gardens kept very well beautiful flowers, pool boys work very hard and our beds were always ready for us .chefs do an excellent a la carte menu it was our anniversary and they even made us a cake. Evening buffet was also very good Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. The beach is ok but the sea dangerous we stayed by the fantastic pool. We took trips out with fernando very good just outside the hotel gates by the tuk tuks excellent prices far cheaper than reps.and just as good private car so easy parking no rushing and if you have Sam he will stop wherever you want .we went to kandy temples elephant orphanage spices, tea factory and pineapple farm. Good full day out cost £120 for 2 people Sume is a lovely tuk tuk driver who we used for local tours again very good. Trip to local supermarket and pharmacy only cost 700rps about 4pounds and he will wait for you. We also went to chilaw with sume across the paddy fields. And wet lands a great ferry crossing one man pulls you across using a rope! A real experiance ! Lovely temples fish market and shopping. I brought great terracotta wind chimes 5 cost me 1500 RSI shop opposite hotel wanted 2800 for 1!!! Also great two story gift shop in local village very good prices

Just returned from 2 weeks at cpb and had a fantastic holiday. The hotel is set just back from the beach and inbetween 2 fishing villages so quite remote but easy to get a tuk tuk to get you around and at reasonable prices. We stayed in one of the rooms facing the lagoon and it was very picturesque and peaceful with plenty of wildlife to be seen. The rooms are very spacious and they are cleaned daily with a turn down service at night were they turn your bed down and decorate with flowers . The room was equipped with tea making facilites a fridge and fresh bottled water was left daily in the room. The swimming pool was large with plenty of sunbeds dotted around and little chipmunks running around that were partial to a few nuts and would eat straight from your hand. All the staff are warm and friendly and always say hello from waiters to gardners to security men all really lovely people. We stayed on bb because we wanted to get out and see different places but a lot of guests were there on all inclusive ,but we found it cheap enough in the hotel and there were a couple of restaurants just outside the hotel at reasonable prices as well.We did a couple of trips while there one was a 3 day 2 night tour with FERNANDO TOURS i can highly recommend him you will find him just outside the main gate just ask for him and he can arrange any thing for you at really good prices. We also did a couple of tuk tuk tours from just outside the hotel and these can also be recommended especially the one to Negombo were you get dropped at the train station to experience a train ride and the driver meets you at Negombo and shows you the sights before returning you to the hotel .All in all a really good holiday not a lot for kids to do around the hotel though as i saw.

After 3 weeks in the country ,we spend 4 nights there .
The bungalows have spacious room and are well maintained ,the sheets are changed every day .
They have a good restaurant with pleasant staff ,a big swimming pool , it's an ideal place to stay before or after a long international flight .
The only point is that even in the main lobby ,you don't have any internet access ,
The reception said yes ,you could get , but nothing . !!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same but far froml the swimming pool is more quiet .
