First impression, it was spacious;it has a decent size kitchen with microwave and a fridge freezer, the block i was staying in ; 201 was near the ski slope; my unit 206 has a little of the ski slope view. If you have a little one; it is spacious for him or her to run around. The apartment itself has a bathtub but no shower curtain, no bath towel; just hand towels; you have got to ask for them, and no washing machine. The management expects you to clean up the apartment before you checked out otherwise you would be charged a fee(s). I last time i came across being charged for bed sheets/towels and stuff was in France so this was a bit of surprise. I wasn't happy about its Housekeeping service though; they come in only to give me a new set of towels but didn't empty the bins; cant they just tell their guests where to empty their bins if they are not doing it? Would i go there again? yes, as it is very spacious but i would be better equipped and mentally prepared for all these things that this self catering establishment lacks. Still can't get my head round how to do my washing without having to cost me an arm or a leg though. Oh, ya, it doesn't have a swimming pool for your kids or Fitness Center for you but there is a water park walking distance away from this establishment. And, lots of restaurants as well as supermarkets, ATM. Tips: walk around the blocks and look for a ski slope view; assuming that is what you want, before you check in. It is really no point you asking for a room with a view from the staff; they just don't know. Also, you need not worry about the language barrier there is always the Google Translate to help you; ok, it is not absolutely spot on but they would get it. Further, we brought our on USB hard drive to plug into the TV; it works, so entertainment for the night was sorted too. We also brought along our Xbox:-) for our son.

2nd time around to this place(1st was 2 years ago). Place still captivates with it's own unique cozy splendour!.

Though we did not hv our preferred blk, everything(within the unit) remain same. Was given blk 102 - just above Angels In Us Café. Stayed on the 4th floor & had a panaromic view of the ski slopes!. Layout of room was same as before - 2 bedrooms(1 with queen size bed with attached bathroom & balcony while the other is traditional(ondol). There's telly in living room, kitchen place with necessary utensils, bathroom, dining table & chairs. Nice sofa beside sliding glass door to balcony. Beddings were comfy & towels & bedsheets were new. Pls note that the towels are not changed everyday but still, u can always call for them to be replaced with new ones. Below are shops selling coffees, burgers & fast foods. Ideally located(infact, most of the blks are ideally located unless ur staying towards Intercontinental which can be quite a walk. Likewise, minimarts & other shops are nearby. The only setback was that the wifi sucks big time!. U may purchase whole day wifi card fm the minimarts at a very reasonable price but I wud strongly against getting it as it did not work either!!. We found out that the best place where the wifi signal is strongest is at the restaurant located inside Intercontinental. Even at Holiday Inn Resorts(hotel), the signal was at best intermittent.

Compared to 2 years ago, I guess the obvious difference was the addition of a new though small casino located on the ground floor at Holiday inn Resorts. It opens fm 3pm till 3am. Hwer, pls note that most of the counters(table with cards like blackjack & baccarat are open at 5pm only). Only machines(jackpots) are open at 3pm. Of course, the other notable difference is that this place is getting more crowded!. Students are everywhere! ... most are there for skiing lessons while the rest are there just for the cool, quiet cozy laidback atmosphere that is everywhere!. Everything seems to move at a crawl which suits us perfectly!.

Getting to this place fm Seoul is still the same - Dong Su Bus Terminal(ticket is priced at KRW15,000 /pax), journey lasted slightly more than 2hrs to Hoenggye(3rd stop) & fm here, a 13mins taxi ride to Holiday inn Suites Welcome Centre. Getting back to Seoul is just the reverse. Pls note that subway station just opposite Dong Su Bus Terminal is Gangbyeon station at stop 214 on the Green Line.

Overall, it's still the place for the family to spend a nice quiet with lots of fun & quality time together during Christmas festive period. I wud rate it a lot better than the accommodations we had at nearby ski resort, Yongpyeng 5 years ago. Also, there's also Ocean 700 which is fun for the family & of course, the nearby town of Hoenggye where one can spend a nice morning or evening out with the family for some cheap groceries(very fresh especially the strawberries & they tasted extremely sweet!) or just a nice home-cooked piping hot meal which is definitely welcomed in extremely cold weather!(we were there fm Dec 9th-11th & temp in the nite dipped to -13 degree Celsius wz strong winds!!). *** Pls note skiing equipments rental(30%) & entry to Ocean700(35%) enjoy discount once u stay at the Holiday Inn Suites. I assume the same can be said for those staying at Holiday Inn Resorts & Intercontinental. This place is perfect for family & likewise couples or group tours!.

Room Tip: Always insist that u want a room/unit that faces the ski slope.

Unfortunately we stayed only for 1 night at this resort and regretted didn't had the opportunity to stay longer. Check in was a breeze but strict at 3 pm onwards. Requested for slope-facing room and the receptionist kindly obliged. However, we had to walk uphill for 200m from the main lobby to our block. Once entering the suite, we were in awe of the size. The view probably not as spectacular as those directly facing downhill but sweeping view across the valley was nonetheless very good indeed.

The king size room has a walk in wardrobe and own flat screen TV. The balcony stretched from one end to another. You can enter the balcony from the master bedroom, lounge and the kitchen area each with their own door. The master bedroom door has 3 layer, 2 glass doors and a netting to ensure complete privacy from outside.

The kitchen was complete with large fridge, microwave, electric stoves, kettle, cookware and utensils. Good if planning to cook on your own. The mock fireplace was beautiful at nite.

The ski facilities were very good. Gear and clothing rental were reasonably priced with plenty of locker to keep your things safe. There were a few shops selling clothing and ski accessories also at reasonable price.

Even during christmas period there were plenty of snow and at nite time the slopes were not crowded.

All in all, a good resort to stay with over the top accomodation to ensure a fun ski holiday.

Staff is so friendly and the hotel is just down the ski slopes. Perfect location for a family with children who want to start or improving ski skills.
Not recommended for big ski activities as there are only 5 slopes. But the environment is very nice and a good track for sledding. And there is an other place; 10 minutes drive, with 21 slopes to do more ski (but more crowded as well).

Room Tip: With 2 children, try to book in advance family room. Very nice with children from 3 to 11.

The Holiday Inn Suites is a larger complex of 1 and 2 bedroom kicthenettes at the bottom of the Alpensia Ski Resort. They were quite busy on the last weekend in December. We were unable to get a room next to our friends but were still able to quickly chekcin and go skiing at Alpensia that night. It was awesome to walk three minutes to ski rentals and tickets. They had a variety of resturants and coffee shops in the community courtyard as well. It felt a little like Whistler in B.C. We received a 30% discount on skiing for staying at the Holiday Inn. Our room was on the second floor above the dreaded bar so we thumped and thumped to techno music until 2AM. A call to the front desk the next day resolved the issue for the next night and we felt we were heard. We felt the management really tried to work with us in resolving the issues, which isn't always true at every hotel. We would stay again at this Holiday Inn. It was so convenient to ski Alpensia and also drive 5 minutes to YongPyong.

Room Tip: Get the ski discount at Alpensia for staying at the Holiday Inn. Also, at YongPyong as if your credi...

Stayed during 15-18 Dec.. have a 2 rooms at Holiday Inn Suites, one with King Bed and a Ondol room. We stayed at block 201 (think they have 201 to 205 if I am correct)... 201 was great as it is the same block as the check-in main building, so bringing your big luggage up will be most convenient. It is also conveniently located near the ski slopes. Note that Inter-Continental is actually across the street and a slightly (3-5mins more) off from the ski slopes.

We tried to ask for a ski slope view but they mentioned it is only for their members (probably Holiday Inn members). However we were given 5th floor, which has like 3/4 view of the ski slope! which was Good enough!!

Room was pretty big, 2 toilets (each attached to the 2 rooms), kitchen and living area is comfortably wide, so are the toilets and rooms. Would definitely stay in Holiday Inn Suites again.

Room Tip: Blk 201 is great, ask for 5th floor (highest floor).. has partial (>50%) view of the ski slopes!

We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment at Holiday Inn Suites Alpensia. It was very spacious and consisted of 2 rooms with regular beds and 1 with traditional korean bedding, which is really not too comfortable. The room doesn't get serviced fully daily and you are expected to clean up after yourself. I would have preferred full service but maybe to be expected given the inexpensive rates. The surrounding ski village offered quite a few dining options - generally reasonably priced and surroundings was quite pictureques esp after a night of snowfall. One other nice thing is the ski slopes are really close, barely a 5 min walk.
