“Great Stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Room: Our room had a bunk bed and a single bed, a bit small for 3 pax but comfortable enough and spotless too.
Breakfast: Plated breakfast; the Ilocano Breakfast was good.
Bar: The Sultan Bar is a great place to unwind at night after a long day. Downside: most of what we wanted to order was not available.

Upon arrival, we were politely asked if we would like to switch room due to a function that night...good thing they did that, because I read several bad reviews..on the uncontrollable noise during their parties. They gave us a nice comfy and clean rooms to rest. They still allowed the use of the pool though it's adjacent to the party area.
One thing that disappoints me is to be called after more than 2 wks bec. of unsettled account due to misaccounting of their staff, which I even clarified before we check out :(

The rooms were small but comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. They have WiFi but the signal is not that strong so we had to go to the second floor balcony area where there was quite a mosquito problem. What my friends and I really appreciated about our stay was the hospitality and helpfulness of the hotel staff. We once called late at night because one of the bathrooms had a problem and they quickly addressed it.

We did have issues, though, with the partner restaurant. The food was really good but the service was slow and the people seemed very grumpy. They would take our orders the night before and we inform them the time we will be having our breakfast but despite this, our food would still arrive late. We were once informed that we had to have breakfast either very early or very late because they were going to have "VIP" guests. We chose to have breakfast at a later time. When we arrived our food was still not ready and we still had to wait some more. To top it off, the manager of the restaurant seemed quite standoffish towards our group when we brought up our concerns.

We generally had no problems with our stay in the hotel but, as we informed the hotel staff, their partner restaurant is not doing them any favors.

We had a room facing the driveway. The room had a bad odor, like sewer seeping in. The room was also tiny but I'm judging this using American standards. I had trouble with the water heater and the shower curtain. I think the curtain wasn't wide enough. But again, the price was cheap. A family member steered us here because of this. But I wouldn't stay here again.

The staff was nice and very pleasant, but the restaurant staff was very slow. We sat for dinner at 7PM and wasn't served until 8:30 and there was just one group before us. And as a previous poster noted, the food was OK but I was told the food was expensive for Filipinos. The second night we had cooked crustaceans and asked the cook for them to be sauteed in butter. This took a couple of hours. My goodness, they were already cooked. My aunt was about to go into the kitchen and sautee these herself.

The internet connection is available in the lobby only but it was so slow, it will frustrate you more and the connection was very weak anyway.

All in all, it was just a place to stay. But will look elsewhere when I'm in the region.

We were there for two nights. First night we arrived there were so many mosquitos and flies as were mentioned here by someone else. Then since they have an open court in the middle of the hotel, there is a function gathering so the place was really loud even when the door of the room was closed. One could really hear the noise up to until 12am. I complained to the manager and he said that it is a hotel so its normal to have a noisy function. Gosh what an excuse, hotels do have functions but its not beside rooms. So better check if they have a function on your scheduled check in otherwise prepare to sleep late.
The linens are as thin as can be, you can see the design of the foam underneath. The only plus i can say is the staff are really nice and the food is ok.

We always stay in Palacio every time we go to Laoag. The hotel was renovated last January 2010. The place is very clean, room is nice, pool is awesome, food is sumptuous and staff are great. Try the gourmet thin Pizza....wow!

Comfortable, clean and artfully nostalgic. Rooms were basic but cozy and pleasantly lit. Bathrooms clean and roomy but the shower heater we got was busted with wires hanging out of the tubings. Service was generally good and our whole stay was very enjoyable. :)
