“Must-stop stopover”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We almost missed Matutina's on the way back to Manila from Baguio. Good thing, their Urdaneta location is still surrounded by rice fields so it was easy to turn around and park in their ample parking space. Lunch time gets crowded and understandably, we had to wait. We ordered specialties like Grilled Malaga, Singang na Bangus, Grilled Liempo and Oyster Cake. As expected, the Malaga and Bangus were fresh and fantastic, especially when dipped to their signature vinegar concoction (you can buy a bottle at the cashier). Quite unexpected also was the oyster cake. Usually oyster cakes are oily (especially the one I had in a hawker stand in Singapore), but this one was light and fresh, none of that greasy after-taste. We left satiated and satisfied. If only Matutina's has a branch closer to Metro Manila, I would go there again and again.

“Totally deserves its #1 ranking!”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

Matutina's is located in a laid-back beach town called Tondaligan in Bonuan. It's got a quirky-vintage-provincial feel to it with all the wood and stained glass furnishings. There's ample seating when we got there for a late lunch, and the staff was quick to pull up a large table for our party.

Once we were seated, they put out the complementary "buko pastillas" -- a whole pack of it! -- and a cold quirky-cool bottle of water. The menu is extensive, but the attentive waiting staff knew the menu inside out, and was gracious in answering our questions.

The food was fantastic! It's similar to Silverio's and Dagupena's price-wise, but you can't get better seafood anywhere else in Dagupan. Whether grilled, sizzling or in soup, they handle seafood really well. The squid tasted fresh, the grilled fish yielded perfectly, and the shrimps were expertly prepared. I loved the sinigang soup -- so good that it reminded me of home!

Awesome food + awesome staff = #1 in Dagupan!

“Tan Family goes Up North and Personal”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

seafood is good in this restaurant in Pangasinan, my family tried dining here for the first time when we went to Baguio last Feb. 2013 for the Panagbenga Festival. Because my family is a seafood fanatic, we never fail to dine here every time we go up North. Inihaw na stuffed pusit, sinigang na boneless bangus, crispy hipon, inihaw na hito are our most frequently ordered food. =)

“Out of the way location but out of this world taste”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

The first and original location of this restaurant is close to to the beach but not on the way to Baguio or the major cities in Pangasinan such as Dagupan or Lingayen. But if you want to give your taste buds an original, authentic taste of what Pangasinan's milkfish (bangus) is known for, the extra kilometers trip is worth it. And this is no fish story. Crabs are not spicy as that of Singapore's but you are given the choice of which live crab you fancy, and it comes back garlicky delicious!

“Kila-WIN”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

its a sudden trip in dagupan specially in tondaligan beach and were looking for a nice, clean, but not that expensive resto, one of the locals mentioned about matutinas, so wee look for that resto and we were able to find it immediately since it is just along the road. I ordered kilawing bangus, first ever to eat kilawing bangus and all i can say is it is WINNER! some of the foods are also good like the chicken and the liempo, they also offer seafoods dishes but we did not try it because they are seasonal. So guys Must try the MATUTINAS :)
