Amata Resort and Spa
Ranked #8 of 22 Hotels in Ngapali
Reviewed April 30, 2014

We have stayed at many beach resorts and the Amata Ngapali beach resort is up there with the best; in terms of service consistency and great choice for food. The spa was incredibly well organised and a testament to the lady who is in-charge of ensuring all spa guests walk away, perhaps “crawling away” would be a better way of describing how relaxed one is after an awesome Burmese massage & invigorating spa treatment. We stayed at the cabana with sea view which was very spacious and homely and had a 360 degree view of the beach and ocean from where we were. It was a breath of fresh air to see that there were hardly any beach vendors compared to Bali or Phuket. It was a peaceful and quiet resort which is a change. Magnificent view of the sunset! We will definitely stay here again…

During our visit to burma we stayed in 6 hotels on total and this was by far the best. We stayed in a cobbana lodge which spacious, clean and luxurious.

The beach is beautiful - we rarely saw more than a handful of people on the beach.

The nearby restaurants are also amazing for seafood although if you don't like seafood you might be a little stuck! We ate seafood every day and rarely spent more than £10 on a full meal including drinks. Try 'silver full' for grilled fish!

The hotel is lovely, set at the quieter end of the beach, with plenty of restaurants nearby, on the road and on the beach. We stayed in a Cabana cottage which was a large cottage, very clean and well laid out, but the air conditioning really was not powerful enough for such a large building and the ceiling fan was very high up so didnt do much to fan us. This meant the room was sweltering all day. It did eventually cool down overnight. We didnt eat at the hotel as there was a lot of choice nearby for much cheaper but breakfast was very good with a large choice and we made good use of the cocktail happy hour every evening. We used the spa a couple of times and were very impressed, good massages, nice clean rooms and reasonably priced.

We just left Amata and it was a great stay. Our room was a beach front cottage which was perfect for our family of 4. Though I would recommend putting the kids on the first floor as the stairs are quite steep. We fell asleep each night to the amazing sound of the waves crashing on the beach just footsteps away. The food was good and consistent with a good variety to please everyone the beach was very clean. We have traveled to many beaches in SEA and this was by far one of the cleanest we have visited. Only down side was our kids were the only ones at the resort, not sure if this is typical or just our timing for the stay. We will come back.

Room Tip: If budget allows go for a cabana it was so nice to have the space to spread out and enjoy the views

As with all of Myanmar, this hotel exceeded expectations. Good rooms, nice restaurant, fantastic location on the beach, and really good service. The transfer to the hotel is a little worrying because of all the road works currently going on, but once in the hotel this is soon forgotten.

This hotel is really nice but a bit overprized. We had a seaview room. Balconies a little bit small and with uncomfy chairs but overall nice decorated room. Good location right on the beach. Very good breakfast!

We arrived in Ngapali at the end of our visit to Myamar for a 5 night relaxation on the beach. We arrived without a booking and a budget that was below most of the luxury resorts along the beach. Because of the road construction we decided to try to negotiate at several of these resorts for a deal using one of the roadside rooms (knowing we would be on the beach all day). The reception staff were immediately amenable to negotiation in the friendliest smiling way possible and offered us a garden room (adjacent to the road) at 100$ a night. Compared to the other resorts this was amazing and during peak season. Yes the road noise and construction was very loud especially in the bathroom but we are early risers, out all day and the road was quiet at night.
The room and bathroom were spacious and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the room was serviced twice daily with wonderful floral designs left on the bed. The breakfast was outstanding and in a lovely setting in the beachside restaurant with super smiling helpful staff. As another reviewer mentioned the pool is rather strange as it is in the middle of the restaurant with no lounging area. However with the wonderful calm sea just steps way from the hotel I for one was not going to use the pool. There are plenty of sun loungers and shade umbrellas on the beach and wonderful smiling non hassle hawkers passing selling fruits and coconut juice. The gardens are well landscaped and i loved the vintage car and bus sitting in the hotel entrance. There are plenty of restaurants both along the road and on the beach. The beach itself is superb and I definitely plan to return.
