February 2012 A wonderful hotel with excellent staff. Not suitable if you want disco and the like but perfect for a laid back quiet holiday. Excellent waiter service breakfast in a fantastic setting. Yes the resturant was pricey but to be expected in this standard of hotel and there are plenty of local resturants. We liked the 2 Brothers - out the hotel turn right 5mins along road opposite the Amata hotel. The bedroom was well appointed and spotless - cleaned morning and evening. Communal tip box and staff didn't expect individual tips. The swimming pool was very under used as it was rather cold. Designated sunbeds on beach and loungers on your terrace - ask for the padded covers. We can not praise this hotel too highly.

Room Tip: We had deluxe room 39. This was brand new opposite the pool with a bit of sea view. A/C was so quie...

this place is a dream
mobile phones do not work, internet connection is working in fits and starts so this is the perfect place to relax
room amenities are good (no toothbrush!!!!)
we stayed in a deluxe which are close to the "main" road therefore it is not so sound-proof.
in January the climate is perfect, for breakfast and dinner you might need a woolen sweater but during the day it is hot and windy therefore you do not sweat.
the temperature of the sea is just perfect.
breakfast is a-la-carte (included) the quality of the food is the best I have ever tried abroad (I am italian so do really care!). the chef is italian. choice of food is extensive.
staff is unbelievably nice.
we went there with 3 kids (10, 5, 1) so i might be giving a couple of tips. DO organize yourselves to keep them entertained, you will not find anything around the hotel, buy diapers, baby food (if you need any) the restaurant will provide you with anything you need for the little ones (I always asked for spaghetti or fish or rice for my little one and they always prepared the thing I asked for and the quantity i needed)
if you are looking for a relaxing place go there!!!!

We had been looking for ending our trip by the beach in a really nice hotel but unfortunally the Sandoway proved to be disappointing:no Burmese touch, impersonnal rooms even though they were large with a nice shower room.As to the restaurant the prices were outrageous compared to what we paid during our trip in top hotels. We decided to go to the restaurants nearby which were good and welcoming. What we really liked in this hotel was the internet access (2 computers) and the theater where we could watch European news but also movies .

When we arrived at the airport our pick up wasn't there and it was amazing how the people in the restaurant nearby immediately realised this and 'phoned the Sandoway to check what was happening. Their response was typical of people we had met during our holiday in Myanmar. The Sandoway quickly arranged for a taxi to take us to the hotel and we were met by the manager who apologised for the confusion. I'm sure this is not typical of the resort and he was very apologetic.
We stayed here for four nights in a bungalow facing the beach. The room is beautiful with the bed facing the beach so you can see out of the huge glass doors and gaze at the sea, sky and sand. We were very lucky and probably had one of the best rooms and could not fault it. The showers were brilliant, bed really comfortable and it offered a lovely restful end to our tour of Myanmar.
The room was huge with a long 'cupboard corridor', a massive bathroom and stairs which lead you to a small room from where you can lay and watch the sunset or possibly it can be used as a room for a family. The only downside to this beautiful room is that there are light switches all over the place and you could spend a good deal of time searching for the switch for the light you're wanting to put on!!
Breakfast was good although for a couple of days the juice was not fresh which was disappointing but I just chose not to have it. There was plenty of other things to eat and drink so it wasn't a problem.
Staff were very helpful, friendly and responsive to requests.
We only ate at the restaurant once and I wasn't very impressed - the food was pretty boring and expensive. We found a brilliant restaurant further down the beach which offered more interesting food and was not as expensive. There are also plenty of restaurants on the road which runs parallel to the beach.
We really enjoyed our stay here and I would happily return. There's not a huge amount to do other than walk the beach, swim or lay on a sunbed, I wouldn't want to stay more than about four nights as I begin to get bored. However, if you want a rest and hang out not doing too much, then it's a good place to stay.

My wife and I checked in this resort on December 26th for 5 nights in a beach villa. We had heard Ngapali beach was the perfect place for a short break. We were not dissapointed at all. On the contrary the Sandoway Resort was the perfect place in many ways. First of all its location on this 3 km stretch of beach not too close from the village but easy enough to walk in the morning to see the fishermen return from sea with their catch. A perfect photo opportunity.
The Villas are very well designed and spacious The very brigh bathroom with walk in shower and the jacuzzi with great amenities are an additional welcome. Each Villa has got its assigned parasol with 2 sun loungers on the beach.
The Restaurant headed by an Italian Chef has to be the best in Ngapali. In fact we went for lunch to another leading resort nearby and the food was no way near the quality served at the Sandoway. There is also a limited selection of wines which are actually well priced; in fact cheaper than any restaurant in neigbouring Thailand. Service is very efficient and friendly. Lastly complimentary Wi Fi is available in the main lobby. Quite convenient in a country where mobile phones rarely work unless purchased in the country itself.
Overall we highly recommend the Sandoway.

Room Tip: The Villas are a bit expensive but worth every cent!

Lovely beach, charming cottages and good service. A great way to conclude a visit to Myanmar. We wanted a beach cottage, but were only able to get a get a city view. Still wonderful, and close to the beach and conveniently located. Ngapali beach is one of the few unspoiled beaches left in a the world. And Sandoway resort is a real treasure.

We spent Christmas with family and friends at this remote beach resort in Myanmar. The property is owned by and Italian/Burmese. Each room is a little bungalow with loads of charm!
