This 3 Star Hotel has a lot going for it, but there is certainly room for improvement.

The transport from Ngapali Airport to the hotel was impressive and efficient. It has a beautiful beachfront, one of the best swimming, pristine beach areas in Ngapali. There is no shortage of beach lounges or spots to relax on the beach, one had a choice of chilling out under the huge, well-established shady trees along the beachfront or sunbathe along the open beach areas. The huge tamarind and palm trees provided shade to the buildings.

The room was old but spacious and the bathroom large with a good supply of hot water and kept reasonably clean but it had lots of mosquitoes. The breakfast was disappointing and not tasty – maybe I am expecting too much from a 3 Star Hotel, but I felt there was certainly room for improvement. The majority of the staff provided great friendly and efficient service and tried their best to please but I’m not too sure about middle the management staff at Reception and Food and Beverage, who were probably efficient but not too friendly – they probably need to do an interpersonal skills course. No complaints about the WiFi service or air-conditioning.

We were charged US$85 per person for New Year Eve dinner which is probably the norm in Ngapali for such an occasion but I was charged extra for ordering a drink of water which I was shocked to find out was not included in the price, yet wine and cool drink was! Maybe they are not aware that alcohol dehydrates the system and water is a healthy accompaniment to drinking alcohol and should be supplied free of charge for health reasons. I also found out that ordering a bucket of ice is not a complimentary room service; it came in a bowl (not bucket) with accompanying charges.

Unfortunately the resorts in Ngapali are overpriced, not to mention the expensive domestic airfares to get there – road transport is long and tedious. I definitely would not stay at the Thande Beach Hotel again and unfortunately would have second thoughts about holidaying in Ngapali for the above mentioned reasons.

Room tip: Beachfront rooms are the best but expensive.

Thank you very much for your candid review of your recent stay at our hotel. Thank you again for your positive comments about our rooms, hotel location and friendly staff. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, as we strive to improve with each and every stay. I greatly appreciate your comments about breakfast, drinking water and ice bucket. For extra drinking water, our restaurant provided drinking water by glass as complimentary during the whole event and exclusive by bottle. We pride ourselves on our service and facilities, the high-quality standards we maintain, and would like to make things right. We value our customers opinions and would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The hotel is located at one of the best part of the beach, the part without rocks.
There are sunbeds with umbrella’s and towels for guests.
The only annoying thing was that aome guest already before breakfast put a towel on a bed to claim it and than didnt show up before 12, stayed one hour and left for lunch.
It would be good if the hotel took action on this (remove the towel after a certain time and release the bed) as this almost forces other guests to do the same if they want to have a beach bed (which I hate).
Breakfast had a lot of options and ther rooms are spacious and very clean in a well maintained tropical garden.
The rooms are right behind the main coast road which gives some traffic noise during the day but after 8 pm there is hardly any traffic passing anymore.

If you have drinks on the beach and you are on the left side (seen from te sea) it’s closer to walk to the restaurant on the left side of the resort han the resort bar and it’s half the price.

Great hotel , clean comfortable room facilities , WiFi , loungers on the beach and on a raised wall behind too . Food was beautiful with everything you could ask for , bar close to loungers and nothing too much bother , as my heading says it’s a perfect hotel and I would recommend a stay here without a doubt

Ngapali beach is beautiful and very clean and the hotel is perfectly located. However we expected far better from a hotel of this price range. Rooms were fine (although the mattress was very hard in our room) and the wifi wasn’t too bad. The swimming pool though seemed very dirty and we haven’t seen anyone using it in 3 days. The staff was nice as it always is in Myanmar but not very helpful (or not willing to help in some cases...). Housekeeping will come into your room in the morning even if you put the do not disturb sign on the door. Food is not tasteful at all, there are much better places on the beach for the same price or even cheaper. We loved the Yoma Cherry Lodge for dinner (beautiful place, amazing staff, delicious food and very good value for money!). Breakfast was okay but not very tasteful and my eggs were over cooked everyday. E-bikes are 4 times the price of what you pay in Bagan, boat trips are twice the price of what you would pay if you book somewhere else and don’t book your tuk tuk rides with them as prices they will negotiate with the drivers won’t be in your favour (a Uber in Australia would have been cheaper!). We asked if we could do a 2-hour boat trip instead of the half day trip which was offered everywhere and the only answer we received was “no”, not very flexible or willing to help :( Complimentary airport pick up is convenient but I think it’s offered by most hotels in Ngapali. Overall, our stay was okay but for more than $100 per night, we were expecting better service.

I stayed in December 2014. The fact that I haven’t forgotten this hotel (and to finally write a review) speaks volumes!
- Situated in the most beautiful, relaxing beach ever, wade out for meters and meters
- Warm service that is subtle, not in your face (if Theint Theint @ Isabella is still the manager, she’s lovely! Please say hello from Anthony!)
- Sit by the pool and laze the day away
- loved the breakfast buffet (included in hotel price?). And lunch/dinner also very good and well-priced.
- quiet! Can’t see or hear any other property/home/etc from inside the property
- Great location, walk down the beach 20 minutes to a fishing village and see the catch come in and weighed
- quick van ride or use hotel bikes to another small village with local artisan marketplace
- short bike ride in the other direction to a small center with more western-ish style shops

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of.
