We too were a little off put by the owner not wearing a shirt, but the beer was truly icy cold, and there was a free midi of Mekhong beer with every meal when we were there.... the owner, Steve, likes icy cold beer himself so that is what he serves. Was always very pleasant to us. (There have been some negative reviews)
we always were treated well, with the air blower switched on for us every time, and we went there six or seven times during our three week stay.
Didn't go there because it was an Aussie bar, went there because it had icy cold beer at a very competitive price. What I would suggest is cleaning the condiments (ketchup and mustard bottles etc) daily as these were a little grubby and keeping them in the fridge until needed, as if the condiments go off, they can give you the runs even if the kitchen is run well.
Like any Aussie sports bar there was soccer, rugby and aussie rules football on three big screens. It gets 3 and a half stars but I made it four because it was really run well and the beer was icy cold. Did I mention that already? There were Aussie and Western food available, but the noodle and vegetable soup and some of the other local dishes were very cheap and good.
