“Top hotel with amazing views throughout”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights and although pretty pricey it was a superb experience. The pool and landscaped gardens around are lovely and the view across the river and mountains is stunning. We spent time by the pool and on our balcony just watching the view. The room was huge and well furnished but the bed was a little hard (not unusual in Asia). The staff always friendly and willing to help. The poolside service in particular was very good. The main plus point of this property is that it is within walking distance to the town but far enough outside to be peaceful and quiet. If we return too Vang Vieng we will definitely be staying at the Riverside Boutique!

Room Tip: LL7 was our room and very satisfactory it was.

Beautiful location on Mekong River...mountains in background. Service was excellent. Food was Lao/Ital/etc .Wonderful brunch. Felt like royalty here. Owner always present...early morning to late at night to make sure everyone was happy. Close to town(1 blk), and village across river.

Room Tip: Some rooms face garden. Most face pool and /or mountains.

I had a chance to stay here, and it was just beautiful. The whole setting with the mountains and the river, the ruralness surrounding it - away from the city - it was wholly enjoyable. You could certainly stay in one of the guesthouses in town for a tenth of the price, but this was worth the splurge. Take a walk across the little suspension bridge and walk around in the countryside on the other side of the river - there's even a German Thai man, Mr. Katz, who has a little restaurant on the river bank and he makes wienerschnitzel and German fried potatoes that are just great! The only complaint I have is that when we asked what our options were for driving over the mountains to Luang Prabang, the hotel manager only told us about a private car - not the public bus that goes every day at 9 a.m. for just a few dollars (instead of over $150). That was not being forthright, but in every other respect, it was a lovely stay in wonderful surroundings.

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in world-wide (see our past reviews to get idea of our preferences and other hotels we’ve visited). The location is stunning – near the toll bridge and right on the river, with the mountains in the background. The grounds are immaculate and beautifully landscaped. Service is superior throughout the hotel – the restaurant, the pool, the front desk. The hotel is an easy walk to restaurants and shops (try the nearby small AMD restaurant – very good). The hotel manager is friendly and attentive, and seems to work hard to make certain guests are comfortable, circulating among tables at breakfast and chatting with those who are open to it.

Our room (LL-5) was on the 2nd floor of a two story building that directly faced the river and mountains, and overlooked the central grounds and pool. At night the gardens are beautifully lit, complete with lanterns in the trees, and the view from our pleasant balcony was particularly stunning in early morning and at sunset. The room was large and attractively decorated. The king bed was comfortable and the a.c. was quiet and effective. There was a large built-in closet/minbar area with a safe. The bathroom was large and smartly decorated in grey stone tiles, and there was a good amount of counter space. There was a shower/tub combo. A minor quibble is that the bathroom seemed a bit dark.

Wifi was included and worked well throughout the hotel.

Breakfast was in the restaurant on the second floor of another building with very pleasant views of the river, the mountains and the toll bridge. The buffet was excellent, with a large selection of fruit, juices, omelets to order, meats, yoghurt, cereal, croissants, etc., etc.

We don’t hesitate to recommend the Riverside and would certainly stay here again.

We arrived on my birthday after the scary 6 hour minibus ride from Luang Prabang. This was just heaven on earth. All the reviews have said it mostly but the room was absolutely gorgeous. We wanted a river view but they only had a garden view. In the end it didn't matter as it was so beautiful. Then when we walked for breakfast or to sit by the pool or river we were just mesmorized by the view..Now this is true all along the river in Vang Vieng with the mountains so close and all the river activity but the setting of this resort is really out of this world. On my birthday we had dinner there and they gave me a whole cake they had bought with my name on it. Little touches like this make this a special memory for me.The breakfast was fabulous and the staff really friendly and kind. The pool is very nice but it was cold when we were there in the water but still went in. We stayed 4 nights and wanted to stay the 5th but they were sold out.
I had read it was a little out of town but really its just at the end of town (I think) and down a gravel road to the river. It was quiet and 100% totally worth it. Yes its expensive but the location, service, restful atmosphere made this one of our favorite places to be staying in.
Thank you everyone!

Room Tip: River view would be the best or garden view. Most rooms are pool view which I liked the privacy of t...

Amazing hotel in a fabulous location. Rooms are well appointed and spacious especially the suites, some of which overlook the river. The staff are very friendly and the manager Manuelle was amazing, thoughtful, attentive and very helpful. Food is a little limited in selection, but that is a minor problem as it all tasted so good. The hotel industry in Laos is very new and so the staff can be a little slow at times, but are always very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Pick either the Yao suite or the one above for a huge room with a brilliant location

Stayed here for 2 nights at the start of December 2014 and yes its the most expensive hotel in Vang Vieng but its also very very good. The staff were very professional and courteous, location is excellent right next to the bridge over the river. The view of the mountains in the distance is spectacular. Rooms are decorated by theme with local ethnic textiles and this really makes a difference. Our room/bathroom decorated very tastefully and it was extremely clean. Every room has a balcony from which to relax and enjoy the view and the weather (which in early Dec was perfect at 80F during the day cooler at night). Breakfast is buffet style and has a good enough choice but its the local Lao coffee that was the highlight for me - wonderful! If you are looking for a comfortable, high end hotel in Vang Vieng then this is the top one! Enjoy as I did!
