This is one of the most memorable moments while in Vang Vieng last December. Blue Lagoon is about 7km from Vang Vieng town.
I got a local guide to show me the way because there seemed to be some confusion about which is the real blue lagoon (with the wrong signage pointing to another).
On the way to the blue lagoon, my guide showed me a village (you get to see the local kids waving at you and bathing in the river). I gave them colour pencils and pens). They were simply thrilled !
There is a steep trek up to Tham Phu Kham Cave. And when you are lucky, my guide told me I could spot a golden crab (that's how the cave got its name ~ golden crab)

Steep slippery climb to cave and back again. Rain rain and more rain. Dismal seating area and cafe around "blue" ie brown lagoon. Laos is trying hard with tourism but long way to go.

Water is lovely and cool, and deep enough so jumping in off the two branches is not scary. I couldn't touch the bottom anywhere, but there are ropes/swings you can hang on to while in the water. There is a little restaurant which served tasty food, and a volleyball net if you are feeling more active. Good way to spend half a day.

The water is cool, which makes it so refreshing on a hot day. We had great fun swinging into the lagoon from the ropes and jumping off the tree branches. The water is very deep so no concerns of getting injured.
