Easy Go Backpacker Hostel
Reviewed April 1, 2013

It's cheap, very cheap, but that is probably the nicest thing you will hear from me in this reaview. Ok, it is a nice place to meet other travelers as well.

The rooms are not very nice, the bathrooms are horrible, everyone smokes weed and the staff are not very helpfull. So if you can live with that, Easy Go is the place for you.

The staff are so chilled out and friendly and it is an amazing place to meet other like minded backpackers.
Its not the most modern place and the bathroom really isn't that great but everything else makes up for it.
Also the rooms don't lock so make sure you put your valuables in the lockers in reception!
Would definitely stay here again and recommend it!

Thebest word for this hostel is charming I think ;-) the dorm rooms are quite small, but the beds were big enough! Every bed has a mosquito net, since there is no aircon. The whole atmosphere and the bamboo everywhere is, in my opinion, cosy and nice, but some might think it's oold ;-) there was no toiletpaper and the showers were not the cleanest, but all in all i really felt good here ;-)

There is no single word in the English dictionary to sum up this horrendous experience.

We were arriving in Vang Vieng late at night and actually recommended our booked accommodation to the people on our bus, thank goodness they were fully booked so they didn't have endure this experience and ruin our reputation.  We originally booked for 4 nights, one night was enough we had to move to the great place opposite at the crack of dawn.

Where to begin, we booked a private 4 bed room but having walked down and along some quirky bamboo stairs and walkways we were led down some more stairs to a room without a door, this definitely not what we consider private! There was a toilet/shower in the room, we quickly realised that this was not just for us, it was actually for the 18 other adjoining, yes adjoining dorm rooms. The best way to describe this room is a lobby/ waiting area for the smallest bathroom on earth, although it would be handy if you are keen to shower and go to the toilet at the same time. Just to top it off it didn't have a sink so the only option was to brush your teeth with the shower head!
As the room was made from wood and by the river it was a perfect breeding area for insects crawling over walls with ants in the beds.

There was a continuous stream of people coming through our room to get to their beds and to use the toilet which of course meant our light was being constantly turned on. Other happenings in the night included a growling dog yapping out our feet and a stranger standing over us watching as we slept.

In summary, do not be fooled by the attractive price here, although great for a story to tell friends...once we recover, you should stay with Noi in the place opposite.

With a decent chill-out area, a pool table, and a log-cabin feel, this is as good a place as any to crash out post-tubing in Vang Vieng.

It's quiet enough that you can get away from the madness at Bucket Bar, but close enough and social enough that you'll make friends pretty easily. It's a lovely size - we had about 20 people staying at the same time, who all got to know each other pretty well.

Great owners, who know Vang Vieng pretty well and are nicely connected - all in all, a great time had by all.

Easy Go is one of my favourite hostels. My 3 friends and I arrived in Vang Vieng with the view that we would stay for 2 or 3 nights and ended up staying 6. Easy Go was the major reason for this.

What we had was a place that lived up to it's name, with ample chill out areas to allow us to meet other backpackers, but also have our own space if we wanted it. Mattresses were quite good for Laos, and there was enough showers and toilets to ensure you didn't have to wait long if at all, even when at full capacity.

Because the owner, Si, has constructed the place himself (this is very much an ongoing project; the first 3 days of our stay saw the construction of 6 more beds and a fire pit), Easy Go carries a homely feel that may not appeal to some travellers, though those people probably wouldn't stay in a hostel anyway. Location wise we enjoyed the close proximity to the town and nightlife as well as the jawdropping views of the mountains and river from the balcony area. Also appreciated the staff been chill when we came back tripping mushies and opium and then sat around for hours commenting on the view.

Enjoyed the free tea and coffee as well as the pool table. One thing that could be improved on is security. Lockers are provided, but they are in the lobby of the hostel so anyone could walk in off the street and break them open. Yes they are supervised 95% of the time, but I like to keep my stuff close and that wasn't really an option.

The best thing about this place is the genuineness of the staff. Great to chat with, learn a bit about each others culture, all that travel bs that you know and love.

Also, at $3 a day, why wouldn't you stay here?!
