A combination of Natural beauty and history. If you claim 150 stairs and going to the end of cave ,you will see a good scenery of the hole Vang Vieng.

What makes this place fun is the cave swim just before the entrance to the big main cave. Bring a head torch, go to the lagoon and swim through the cave entrance. You can swim quite a bit through the tunnel. The big cave itself is ok. Lit the whole way with concrete paths. If you like adventure caving other ones in vang vieng are much better

The title says it all, they let you pay an entrance fee, but the cave is just a big whole in a rock with a buddha statue. Tham Chang means Elephant cave, as in a rock you could see an elephant, that's true, if you look good.

Being a more mature traveller I found the 145 steps a little daunting but well worth the effort. Living in those conditions would have been extremely difficult,

Good experience. Very easy to get to and fantastic views of Vang Vieng from the top of the (steep) steps. Inside the cave is great - well laid out and lit. If you're into exploring caves, this is the easiest to get to and is a good introduction to other caves in the region.
