Pan's Place
Ranked #6 of 101 Vang Vieng B&B and Inns

Myself and my girlfriend stayed at Pans Place for 8 nights although we had only initially booked 3. The room itself was pretty basic but for just under 40,000 kip per person (around 3quid each), it was a bargain. It came with an en-suite bathroom and a fan ideally situated above the bed.
However, the best thing i'd say about Pans Place is the owners, especially the Kiwi fella who was helpful with an information about Vang Vieng and well up for a chat. The owners help give the place an awesome, relaxed vibe which comes in handy in Vang Vieng with all thats available.
The food there is really good as well, although not the cheapest in town, it was well worth the extra kip.
Theres also a TV room with a hard-drive with more films on than you can physically flick through, all freely accessable.
I'd recommend anyone who stays here to give the manual in the room a good read as it basically answers all the questions you'd have.

I cant recommend this place enough, if we ever get back to Vang Vieng this will be our first choice. Its also ideally located just a touch further down the main road so your away from all the noise in the early hours.

Room Tip: A good tip is to make sure to bring your own padlocks for extra security on your room door. Although...

The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. Great location, short walk to the bars and restaurants but far enough away to sleep. The rooms are great value, we had the bigger room with the cable TV and was perfect, also nice little area in the back with some hammocks to chill out, food also really good, overall would definately reccommend it, we didn't want to leave. Staff are lovely and a massive thanks to Chris for helping us when my partner split his toe open tubing he was really helpful and went to the pharmacy for us and bandaged him up.

AS far as backpacker accommodation go, this place was great. The rooms are clean, wifi enabled and the bathrooms are standard.
Due to being a little up ( 5 - 10 min stumble ) from the bars and restaurants you are able to get away from the drunken antics when you're not involved in it!
The owner is also really helpful in regards to what to do in the area and the best ways to do it.
Most importantly being able to book bus tickets and arrange Vietnam visas through him was a life saver.
The breakfast here was the best we had in VV by far.

Pan's Place is ideal for Vang Vieng,we booked 7 nights and ended up staying for 9 nights. It's far enough away from town to escape the madness and close enough to get stuck in. The rooms are great value when you consider the price but if its luxury you are after this is not the place for you. Instead relax into the homely feel created by Chris and Nitza (sorry about the spelling) and their friendly staff. The food is great home-cooked fayre, perfect for starting or ending the day. Chris the cockney/kiwi is a perfect host, very friendly and knowledgable about the local area (we reserve judgement on knowledge about moon landings and where we came from :-) but excellent conversation nontheless). When we return to Vang Vieng there is only one place we will stay. Cheers Chris, see you on "Red Hot Pawn" (online chess). PS tours and bus tickets provided by Chris worked a treat and we loved the balloon ride.

Room Tip: Best room is bigger and has cable TV, book ahead by email through website. Ignore message that says...

Travelling as a couple we stayed here at the end of November 2011. We paid 50,000kip for a double fan room with ensuite.

The room was spacious and contained a double and single bed, which was more than we needed. It was clean, tidy but very basic and the bathroom was quite tired but came equipped with a hot shower. It is basic accomodation with an earthy feel but make sure you have a few drinks before you go to sleep because the beds are pretty hard.

The location was fine, within walking distance of all VV has to offer without the noise that goes with being right in the centre. The guesthouse also does some great and reasonably priced food - the breakfast is especially good. The drinks in the guesthouseare also reasonable which keeps the communal area downstairs ticking over nicely in the evening.

Chris, the owner, is a nice bloke and he took a lot of time out of his day to discuss the various activities on offer in the town and to advice us on the darker sides of VV. We really appreciated this and know that others did too.

Our experience was marred on the final night when the water mysteriously switched off all night. Wewere also woken at 3.00am by a load of shouting from some of the other guests which went on for quite a while. This soured the experience a little but we know that there wasn't much that Chris could do and he was frantically rushing around in themorning to sort things out. We're sure that neither of the incidents are a regular thing and the noise especially seemed out of character with the feel of the guesthouse, but that was our experience. So we left the guesthouse absolutely knackered!

When we arrived in Luang Prabang, we realised that we had left our passports in VV. We called Chris and he had them on a bus to us the very next day, with the only cost being a 20,000kip sweetner to the bus driver. I know that the time spent arranging this must have been a pain for Chris and we were very thankful. He is a guy that works hard to please and we appreciated it.

Thank you for taking the time to review our guest house. I appreciate the compliments and take note of your other comments. Our rooms have just had a fresh paint job , so I think basic is fairer review than tired. As for the water , it was the town supply that was turned off. I also encourage my guests to ask their fellow travelers to be more considerate if they are loud late into the night.

Stayed at Pan's Place last month. Was good value for money if travelling on a budget. Comfortable accommodation and has all the amenities needed, bed, shower, food, wifi. It has a chilled out social area where you can meet others if travelling alone. Chris was very helpful and knowledgeable. Definately recommend this place to stay.

Perhaps not the prettiest but must be the best value for money. "El Jefe" Chris is friendly, knowlegeable, helpful and gives sound advice.
All trips were arranged at a lower price than his competitors.
Comfortable accommodation, well recommended.
