“Idyllic hostel and super cheap”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

Four of us stayed here for three nights and paid four dollars each, inc wifi and breakfast - such a bargain!
The rooms are clean, en suite and basic, exactly what you would expect for the price. The hostel is very new and modern with a chilled vibe, perfect if you don't want to party all day and night. The views from the breakfast area of the mountains was stunning! It's a ten min walk to town but the owner will offer a ride if you want.
The staff were super friendly but not pushy.

I find it hard to believe the break in review, there are security boxes which are free to use, and security cameras around, we felt very safe.

Would def recommend!

good value-for-money-accomodation. wonderful individual breakfast (included!). free coffee. easy to meet other guests beacause of the dining-/sitting-zone. feels far from the "friends"-and-tubing area - but it's only a ten to fifteen minutes walk away. splendid view on the green mountains, especially from the rooms on the second floor.

We found this place as we were walking away from the Vang Vieng Resort (see separate review), and it suited us very well. It's a relatively new set of rooms on two floors, with an open eating area at one end. It has a really laid-back atmosphere. And best of it's quiet. There's little road noise after dark, and no hint of the party music into the small hours that you get in the town. We enjoyed the 15 minute stroll into town to eat in the evening.

Our room was clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and everything worked, although the hot shower was a bit temperamental one morning, and the wifi was better in the breakfast area than in our room.

Breakfast was simple but adequate, and the banana pancake was very good. I do wish they'd had reasonable coffee at breakfast time, however. I have no idea why so many Lao places think that Nescafe is an acceptable substitute for the real thing, especially when their local brew is so good.

The owner of Jammee is an entrepreneur who also arranges travel bookings. Altogether it seemed to us that this was a good setup, and we enjoyed our stay there.

Room Tip: Upstairs room would have better views.

Spent 4 great days here. Everything about the place was just right. Very relaxed and just far enough out of town to escape the madness when you feel like it. Beautiful scenery and a really nice vibe about the place. Sem the owner was wonderful, especially when my friend injured himself tubing and we had to get to Bangkok sharpish. He sorted everything out. Do your self a favour and stay here, you won't regret it!

This was a pleasant find in busy Vang Vieng. Lyell the Australian gentleman made us feel at home. The room was clean. The view from our balcony towards the misty mountains was great and the breakfast excellent. The Laotian owner whose name we don't remember took us on a private trip to a waterfall to explore a trip that was going to offer to his guests. We still want to thank him. The guest house is named after the owner's first son.
We couldn't wish for more for a mere 12 dollar for an air conditioned room in one of the quietest corners of Vang Vieng. The walk to the center of town was about 8 minutes, far enough not to hear the music from the bars but near enough for a pleasant walk.

This is a high-end budget / low-end mid-range accomodation at a budget price. We stayed in the family room with two king sized beds, hot shower, and air con for 120,000 kip per night - about $15 dollars. It's definitely not elegant, but it is close to a nice swimming hole and cave, and walking distance from the main part of town although they will give you a ride. It's good for families with young kids (we were traveling with our two sons 12 and 9) as you miss the craziness of town and can still enjoy the great scenery, tubing and Kayaking that Vang Vieng has to offer. Note the wifi is free, but opperates on Laos time.
