Spent the past week ending 16 June 2012 at TAMASSA Bel Ombre on a holiday. Lovely resort by the sea. Wonderful congenial service. Beautiful sea facing rooms with a constant sight of breakers in the distance. Great buffet food including fresh grills. Good bars and restaurants in the resort. Nice stretch of beach with the resort's own comfortable beach beds in ample numbers on the lawn reaching down to the sand. Water somewhat rocky at the shore, making swimming a bit difficult. Good facilities. More than one swimming pool. A place worth returning to.

What a beautiful island and wonderful people. Tamassa was exactly what we wanted they made us very welcome. Try the spa for treatments I had a massage, facial ane eye brow tint well worth the hours I was gone hubby was gona send a search party our. We found we loved the main buffet restaurant as we liked the choice. The Playa Restaurant is fantastic too they made our wedding anniversary very special with a five course menu especially for us followed by a cake. The rooms were cleaned with clean towels twice a day thank you that was so nice. The grounds and bar and entertainment were fantastic. Try the cocktails brill. The pools were cleaned everyday so clear. All I can say if you want to relax with no pressure please visit Tamassa it is the best hotel along this stretch of beach.

We travelled on the 2nd June - from Manchester. Holiday was booked with Virgin - but flights were with Emirates. We were fortunate to travel on a new Airbus A380 - which was absolutely great. The space on the aircraft is amazing - and the cabin crew were first class. Drinks are free and plentiful - and the food was lovely. Changed at Dubai onto a Boeing 777, which seemed pretty small in comparison. Transfer at SSR in Mauritius was straight forward, and the transit time to Tamassa was approximately 1 hour.
On arrival at the complex - we were greeted by Kelly - one of the hotel staff - and we were welcomed with a hot towel and an ice cold drink of mango cocktail. We were given a brief overview of the hotel, then taken to our accomodation. Our suitcases were brought to our room within 5 minutes.
The accomodation was excellent - facilities within the room were great - and our location was near to the beach.
All of the staff who we came in contact with were very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Hema the Virgin rep was lovely, and was very informative and didn't pressure you into booking any trips - like other tour reps do.
The food was very good, and had a variety of dishes would suit anyone. Poojah in the show restaraunt was lovely, and always had a smile on her face. The Playa restaraunt was by booking only - and the Al -a- Carte menu was limited - but the quality was excellent. Spaces were limited for this, so you need book well in advance, or you will be dissapointed.
Bar service was great, and within a couple of days the staff knew what you liked to drink - therfore your glass never ran dry.
If you book an excursion - you can arrange a packed lunch, which is free of charge - and you could choose a variety of sandwich fillings.
If you are laying in the sun near the beach - you are also offered drinks and snacks - which are brought to you. Free beach towels are available, and can be changed every day.
Mini bar filled daily, and maid service was morning and night - which was very nice.
On departure, checkout was at 11.00am - but the reception manager allowed us to keep our room free of charge - which allowed us to get showered before the journey home.
Our package was all inclusive - which I would recommend to anybody. The next time we go - we will see if we can break up the travelling time by staying a night in Dubai.
Overall - the holiday was excellent - and would return without any hesitation.

A lovely modern hotel which offers many activities and very romantic. The room was bright and modern with a fabulous view of the sea in a very romantic setting. The food was good especially in the restaurant and wine and drinks were of international standard. The evening entertainment was very good and all the staff were very helpful and polite. Excellent value for money and a wonderful weeks holiday. We would definitely stay there again and hopefully soon.

Stayed here as family of 3 (with child) 2nd June for 10 night on AI package. Overall we had a very good holiday experience with Tamassa booked using Virgin Hols (flying with Emirates). We had upgraded to superior room prior to arrival, and had requested room close to beach & on a higher level. We were not disappointed (room 2049) ! We were offered an upgrade to beach front deluxe room (for €20 per night) but after viewing the Superior room first we decided to stay with the room we had been allocated. View was really great, could see the pool, the sea and hills. Room had double bed & single for child.
We found all the staff to be very friendly and you never wanted for anything.
Restaurants: The Show restaurant, in our opinion is of a low standard. The choice was very limited and was tepid! cannot understand why this is advertised as the premier place to eat.
On the other hand the Playa (which needs to be booked in advance) is very good. Food is to a high standard and is show cooked. The menu appears to be changed once per week but if you try each available option, even though repetative, you will not be disappointed. The chefs will cook cook food not on menu for children, ie pasta, or chicken & fries. Lunchtime at playa (booking not needed) is also of a very high standard. We tried the "Show" restaurant twice and was not impressed. I had pre booked the playa for 5 nights prior to arriving & found them to be booked. After trying the show restaurant I approached reception to try to book more nights at playa (saturday) but was told it was full. I explainedI could not eat at the show & was advised that the chef could prepare meals if needed. But, after returning to room later that night had card on door telling me that they had booked us the playa as needed. Very impressed!. I think that all the staff here are a credit to themselves & the manager. It is excellent that all staff encoutered had the ability & initiative to resolve any issues without having to involve the manager. As a manager myself, i would be very impressed if my staff had done the same.
Beach area:- as reported by others is coarse sand and water shoes are a must.
Pool areas: Excellent and well maintained. Grassed areas around pool are also well maintained.
Entertainement: Low key, but this suited us.
Bar & bar staff: Of a very high standard & attentive.
Room cleanliness. Excellent, towels changed twice daily & room cleaned every day, with mini bar topped up also daily.
Room decoration: Of a very high standard with excellent bathhroom & shower.
Virgin Rep: Hemma was very helpful & friendly.
Would recommend Tamassa to all sorts of people & friends.
Flights: Emirtates A380 took 2 hours to board at manchester but all other 3 flight OK & on time. You must ensure that have at least 90 mins between flight as Dubai gets very busy especially at 1am, With bus used to get you from end of runway to T3 taking 15 - 20 mins,& the walk time in T3 from one end to other is approx 23 mins! We found security to be well organised & quick.
Overall Excellent holiday. Any Qs please ask & I will try to answer them otherwise just email Tamassa & they will reply.

Room Tip: Upgrade to superior room, as good as Deluxe & include slppers & robes, and also te, coffee m...

We stayed at Tamassa from the 4th – 12th May. This was our 5th visit to Mauritius and the first time we have stayed at Tamassa. We used Trip Advisor (as always) to view experiences from other guests who had stayed at this hotel before deciding to book our trip. Here is what we experienced during our stay

Rooms
We stayed in a family room and my parents in a standard room. Both rooms were spacious, exceptionally clean, and had a pleasant modern décor. Initially. on the hotel map, we did find it a little odd that the family rooms (a master bedroom and a separate room with bunk beds for the kids) were quite close to the b-bar (the main bar of the hotel) which had live entertainment every night. We were obviously concerned with the noise from the bar may disturb our 5 year-old daughter sleeping at night, but the rooms (once the room door and windows were closed, were extremely sound proof and we had no problem with our daughter sleeping, or us for that matter !

Food & Drinks
As mentioned in previous comments by guests, there are 2 restaurants: the main restaurant (Show) (buffet) and the Playa which is al a carte. The quality of the food at both restaurants was good and there was always something new and interesting to eat at the Show. At the Playa, there was an all-inclusive menu and a non-inclusive menu for those who wanted to splash out on something more extravagant.

At the b-bar and beach bar, there was a large variety of drinks on the non-inclusive menu and good quality, the house wine red, rose and white were all equally as pleasant and the cocktail menu had a good variety on both the inclusive and non-inclusive section – which is clearly marked in the relevant sections of the menu.

Kids Club
The kids club was fantastic, my daughter loved it and there were plenty of activities for her to do, the staff there were very kind and caring especially Francine who my daughter, wife & I thought was exceptional. There is a bit of a walk from where the family rooms were situated and oddly enough the kids area did not have a “jungle gym” (i.e. climbing frame, swings & slides).

Beach
As mentioned in previous posts by other guests, the beach is ok, it is quite rocky with resident sea urchins so please don’t forget to bring along your swimming shoes for when you paddle in the sea, there is a small spot where you can swim a little. Some people complained that is was quite a walk from the pool / rooms to the beach, it took about 3 minutes at most and I didn’t have any problem in terms of its proximity.

Just for interest: I did take a walk across the other beaches belonging to the other hotels that were neighbouring Tamassa (Sofitel, Tefair and a few others which I cant remember off hand in the South West) and I have to honestly admit that Tamassa does have the best beach out of all of the hotels in this particular area… really.

Service
We had a few minor hiccups in the first few days we were at the hotel, but these were swiftly addressed by the hotel after speaking to management (Ashvin Bukhory) and overall we had good and friendly service throughout our stay at both restaurants and bars.

Overall impression
Tamassa is definitely value for money and we would certainly consider going back to this hotel again when we return to Mauritius for our next holiday.

Note: If you are unhappy with anything at the hotel (which I very much doubt), rather than being miserable during your stay and tell everyone when you get home what a terrible holiday you have had, rather speak to the hotel management who I’m sure would gladly and promptly rectify any issue that you may have. You wont do yourself or the hotel any favours by not speaking up !

Room Tip: Rooms in Crescent A are probably the best as its closest to the restaurants, bars and reception

My girlfriend and i with our one year daugher was looking for a 12 days break in April this year, after reading a few of the reviews on tripadvisor we chose Tamassa Hotel! The hotel was excellent and the staff there made us feel at home.

After a long flight from Frankfurt Germany we got to Mauritius at 5am, out the airport after getting out bags and our travel rep was there to meet us, a 45 minutes van ride later we where at Tamassa hotel , we were met by a smilling staff menber to help with our bags to reception where we were greeted by two warm smilling staff members , one offered us ice cold fruit drinks whiles the other check us in. They knew we were getting there early in the morning,so a room with a babybed was ready for us shortly after we got there! We were offered breakfast in the main restaurant whiles the room was been made ready, after breakfast we were shown to our room and the relaxing holiday we dream off began!

You can do a lot or do nothing if you chose to at Tamassa. Food for us was mostly Playa for lunch and dinner and the main restaurant for brekfast..Our room had one for the 3 pools just in front so made it easy taking out daughter there. The beach was right there too so easy movment from pool, beach, bars and the restaurants..

The food and drinks were excellent at all places , i would recommend the all inclusive , it does get a bit pricey if not..Friendly and Helpful that was all the staff, our daughter was loved by all the staff members ,they could not get enough of her..

The make up of the guess at Tamassa when we were there was mainly French and Indians, everyone was supper friendly and all look to be having a great holiday!

All on all we had a relaxing holiday on a beautiful island in a excellent hotel, what more can one ask for on a holiday...

Tamassa we will be back soon!
