Wow! No need to say more! As with some previous guests, this was also our honeymoon, and we couldn't have chosen a better hotel or destination. We were treated so well and the service and staff were faultless. Every morning, noon and night we ate beautifully presented and tasting food. The menus in each of the restaurants were varied and delicious. In addition to the hotel, we ventured out on some wonderful trips where the service and effort of those involved was also excellent. We would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone desiring a truly special holiday. Thank you to ALL the staff and to our excellent bedroom maid Marie Anne.

Visited from U.K. 13-29/07/2014 From the moment you set foot in this luxurious hotel you are greeted by the warmest most friendly hotel staff you could wish to meet. Erika, who showed us to our room and explained the facilities was very helpful, making us bookings at the restaurant for that evening due to our arrival time. Steeve (no, that's how his name is spelled) the Duty Manager genuinely wants all his guests to have the best possible holiday experience.
Rooms-very well equipped as you expect in a hotel of such high calibre, a good size and light and airy, immaculately clean and serviced twice daily. Great comfortable beds and crisp cotton sheets.
Hotel grounds-beautiful and tranquil, right on the beach but not noisy, elegant accommodation, french in style and not a leaf out of place, quite simply stunning.
Facilities- good water sports available from kayak to pedalo to kite surfing tuition, water skiing, diving etc.
Dining-having stayed in world class hotels around the world I can honestly say this is positively the best dining experience I have had the pleasure of. In 13 nights we only ate away from the hotels fantastic restaurants once and we never had a repeat menu. Quality, presentation, taste, especially in Annabela's was world class. Top marks to the chef.
Golf- oh yes thank you! a great course and some equally great staff, leave your clubs there after a round, they are cleaned along with your shoes ready for the next round, the Caddymaster is a gent! All the staff there are so helpful and so happy to help, Sky, Kabir, you know who you are! The young Assistant Professional Krishna Nundoo is a talented teacher and such an asset to the course, I would return just to see him for another lesson with the big stick.
Course- excellent, manicured, risk reward type course with varying tee boxes for varying handicappers. I can see you the European PGA Tour is going there next year.
Overall- Would I re-visit? in a heartbeat, the only thing that was bad was having to leave. Can't wait to return, probably next May.
Is it for everyone? well, possibly not, if you have youngsters, there's a kids club in the sister hotel, the Awali next door and that hotel is a bit more lively but for me the Heritage Le Telfair was perfect.

Room Tip: Sea view with a patio, stunning.

It's a long way from England to Mauritius, but boy is it worth it! For my wife and I plus a girl (13) and box (9) this hotel has the perfect mix - relaxation on a wonderful beach front, or so many different activities to wear yourself out.

The staff really go out of their way to look after you. Steve, the Duty Manager was very helpful to find the right room for my family, and offered to play golf with me in his own time. It is obvious to me the hotel is very efficiently run and extremely customer focussed.

The chef at breakfast created a new waffle recipe especially for me (lactose intolerant) and it was so good he replaced the main recipe! So now everyone is enjoying lactose free waffles even though they do not release it!

Jerome in the activity centre is very friendly and welcoming, and was very encouraging when I tried to converse in French. He took me on a long cycle ride up the Island - beautiful.

And the neaby Awali hotel, Christopher and Nicola were super welcoming and great teachers for me on the spinning. I was up early each morning for 45 mins of spinning - the guys worked me hard! Christopher put on some special classes for my 13 year old daughter which she really enjoyed.

The fact that the Golf, certain water sports and tennis is included is a big plus with an active family. The golf course is fantastic, and in fact will host a European PGA event there in 2015.

Every day was a pleasure in terms of food - the breakfast buffet was idilic, the choice of restaurants perfect in the evening. The food was top class, Le Chateaux in particular was amazing, but actually all the restaurants were very impressive.

The best possible thing I can say is that we would like to go back! Thanks to all at the hotel for a great holiday

From the moment of arrival when you are met by the friendly staff to the time when you unfortunately have to leave the experience is fantastic. There are activities for everyone, or there's the beach or the bar if you don't do activities. The Cavendish bar is the ideal place for pre-dinner cocktails, or for a later evening drink whilst listening to live music. The restaurant menus were varied and included local themed meals and were always beautifully presented. For a special dining experience the nearby Le Chateau de Bel Ombre is recommended. Outside of the hotel there is little to do unless you hire a car or take a taxi for about a half hour drive. Fantastic scenery in the Black River Gorges National Park.

We stayed at the Telfair for 10 amazing nights, returning last weekend.

We were exhausted when we arrived not just from the travel but from the lead up to the wedding and a hectic weekend of celebrations, arriving at the Telfair was utter bliss, we were greeted by kind, friendly staff and our evening meal had been arranged.
The hotel was immaculate, smelt fresh and the gardens were well kept by the gardeners.
Although it was technically the islands winter the weather was still warm most days, with some days verging on the 30's. We were never stuck for things to do, the hotel caters for everyone, the only one thing I would mention is the snorkelling at the hotel is a bit shallow and with the coral being so sharp it can be a little bit sore if you catch your leg.

The staff were all friendly in the restaurants (which never felt too busy) and the girls in the Spa were fantastic. To anyone on their Honeymoon I would highly recommend the couples spa experience, it was a real treat and a fantastic way to spend an afternoon!
We also hired the hotels white Range Rover for the day, our driver was Coco who was excellent, he showed us around the south of the island and we had a lovely picnic.
The island has so much to offer, but the true gem on this holiday was the hotel, we have come back to the UK feeling thoroughly relaxed and having had the best honeymoon experience.
One last tip, book a beach view room it was worth every penny waking up to that view every morning!!
We will be back.

Room Tip: Rooms with a beach view are well worth every penny

The Telfair proved to be paradise for us. As a family of 4 we have spent some 2 weeks with everything working as we could only have dreamed of. The setting of the resort is beautiful, the luxury solid.
The reception was a good indication of the service we enjoyed during our stay. The rooms were luxury, space and convenience in a perfect mix. The many restaurants offered food for everybody from local to international cuisine in a superb quality. The Chateaux is elegant with colonial ambience whereas the beach club is informal and yet with an incredible service level.
We used most of the sports facilities - and they are many - and also here did we enjoy quality and a service level that for us is unsurpassed.
Last but not least - the service. The service was there when we needed it and not when not needed. That is a delicate balance to strike and the Telfair staff masters it to perfection.

Room Tip: The beach front Junior Suite with an immaculate butler service is a marvelous experience.
