Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort

We went to the Heritage Golf & Spa Resort in January.
Yes I know my review is a bit late however I'm still thinking about how wonderful the holiday was.

We were there on the all inclusive package and we were very impressed with it.

I did think that the resort would skimp on things for people on the All Inclusive but it is the opposite.
The staff just can not do enough to make you feel welcome.

The food was excellent in each of the restaurants, especially in the Infinity Blue restaurant.
The food is excellent in this restaurant weather it be for Lunch or in the Evening.

There are about 8 White an 8 Red wines included in the All-Inclusive, all the wines that we tried were all very good,a good selection of French and South African wines.

The resort does require Men to wear Shirts and Long Trousers in the evening which I felt was a nice idea.

The treatments which we had everyday were marvellous.

It did rain for a few days which was OK as we spent a good amount of time reading, we also had a lap top which we could use as a DVD player, which is handy if you find yourself stuck in doors because of the showers.

We did hire a car one day which cost about £35 and drove around the south part of the island to see the waterfalls.
The hotel can arrange car hire and a picnic lunch for you.

You won't need much spending money if you are on the All Inclusive package.
All we spent in spending money for 10 days was £200 and most of that was up with tips at the end of the holiday, these is a cash point at the Airport, so use that one when you arrive.

Would I go back? We are already planning on going back in January!

If you are travelling with kuoni as we did and if you collect Air Miles then call Air Miles first to see if they have ay deals, they gave us a 10% discount and enough Air Miles for 2 flights to paris for booking through them.

We have just returned after a 10 day stay and have to say we thouroughly enjoyed it. The food and wine are excellent-although still no Bombay Saphire and only a cheap Amaretto! The staff were always helpful and polite. In fact a special mention should go to Vikash who almost became our personal butler on the beach!!
The rooms are of a reasonable size and were also spotless with no bugs to worry about and in fact despite the recent outbreak of mosquito-transmitted disease neither of us suffered a single bite. We did reject the first room as we had paid for a sea-view but a very large tree completely blocked out the view. It took a couple of hours from arrival to finally settling in but that was soon forgotten. In fact we were booked for a spa consultation at 10am despite arriving at 9am-not what everyone would want after an 11 hour flight.
The spa treatments were well organised although a little in-flexible in the timings because everyone wants a full day on the beach and then a treatment at around 6pm. The hotel was only around 40% full so there was never a wait for water sports and certainly no need to rush to the pool or beach for a bed.
There are a couple of guys who sell on the beach but haggling is fun and I would suggest you check out the prices in the hotel shop to give you an idea of prices. There is also a guy who has a speed boat moored in the bay. A half day trip to swim with the dolphins is a "must". They estimated we were surrounded by about 1000!!!!!!! An excellent way to spend a morning and get out of the hotel. I don't play golf but the course is apparently challenging and a large supply of balls is needed!
I can imagine that the place would be very busy when the hotel is full and the beach probably a bit uncomfortable and certainly much more pressure on all of the facilities.
Make sure you change your money at the airport as the hotel charges a scandalous 10% commission for putting your card through their machine and handing over the cash.
We would return to the Heritage for the chilled atmosphere but would avoid the high season for the above reasons.
