We stayed at the Outrigger Resort from 24 April to 1st May as part of a two-centre holiday, and had a fabulous time! The hotel is set in a beautiful location, and our huge room, with a very large bed and double bath, had amazing sea views from the balcony. The whole resort was very clean and peaceful, with a large infinity pool overlooking the beach, and a smaller quieter garden pool. We enjoyed trips in the glass bottom boat, snorkelling, and using the kayaks – all provided free by the hotel. We are in our 60s had had no difficulty with the kayaks or current on the days that we used them.
Our package was half board at the Mercado buffet restaurant, with an additional daily allowance to cover our lunches at the Edgewater restaurant. The food was extremely good, with an extensive choice both at breakfast and dinner catering for international visitors. Breakfast offer included porridge, hot rice pudding, cereals, fruit juices, a wide selection of fresh fruits, pancakes, waffles and home made yogurts. There was also a hot station where eggs/omelettes were cooked to order, to be served with bacon, sausage, tomatoes and vegetables. Noodles etc were available to suit visitors from the Orient, as well as local dishes to sample. The bread and pastries were mouth watering, and we learnt that the hotel baker arrives at 3 am each morning so that everything is freshly baked in time for breakfast!
We looked forward to the variety of dishes on offer at the dinner – spread over different food stations. We relished the very extensive salad and hors d’oeuvres counter, including fabulous cheeses that were imported weekly from France. There was an Asian station offering sushi, Chinese/Japanese dishes, an Indian station with a multitude of curries, samosas etc., including vegetarian options, local and western dishes, and some themed sections such as Italian Night, Spanish Night etc. And then there were the desserts – they may have been mini in size but beautifully presented and very tasty!
Restaurant staff were always very attentive, and got to know and greet us by name. We never experienced any delays in being served and are surprised at some of the other reviews. Our experience was very positive, and Jean Paul and his team are to be congratulated on the variety and quality of food on offer.
To sum up, we had a fabulous holiday at the Outrigger Resort, and would love to return!
