From the moment we first arrived at Porini Rhino Camp, we knew we were in for a treat. Our first lunch overlooking the watering hole at the camp, was delicious. The chef also coped very well with our dietary requirements (coeliac) and it was nice to be able to share stories with the other guests over dinner and drinks around the camp fire. The service was lovely, with all staff friendly and happy to help or talk about the wildlife or their way of life. The tents were extremely comfortable and it was nice to find hot water bottles in your bed every night and tea/coffee delivered for your morning wake up call. There are only 6 tents in the camp which limits the maximum number of guests staying at one time giving a real sense of exclusivity. Our two guides, Little John and Michael, were everything you wanted in a guide. They happily shared their knowledge of the wildlife and of the Masai culture. They also endeavoured to seek out all that we wished to see and the variety of game in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a great selling feature. You many not see the quantity of game you might encounter in the Mara but when you do find something, it's just your vehicle and not 10 others! The evening walks were very educational but there was perhaps no need for the mock Masai spear throwing and dancing. Overall, the experience was a perfect way to introduce my two children to the best that Africa can offer. Impressive game, wonderful people/culture, beautiful sunsets and incredible starry nights. (Please be aware that our British summer is Kenya's winter, so bring your warm clothing if you are visiting in July/Aug!) Thank you Porini.
