It is hard to describe how wonderful this place is. There is a calm and beauty that is remarkable. With Mt. Kenya looming majestically in the distance the grounds are so beautiful it is hard to take it all in. The service is impeccable and speaks to a level is service that has been lost in most places. I miss being there.

Beautiful grounds with an animal orphanage on site.
Room has a wood fireplace in room that the staff will start while at dinner. So cozy. Fantastic bathroom with large separate marble shower deep bath and great bath towels. Toilet in separate room. Safe in room. If on second floor the windows open (3rd floor they don't open). The staff also put hot water bottles in the bed at turn down service. 1st night we had no hair conditioner, 2nd day they put in room. Have a hairdryer and television.
The grounds are soooo beautiful. They also have entertainment for about 15 min on grounds, local type, very good. Great pool but was noisy 1 day as they appeared to have staff day who were very loud playing water polo. Did not go in was too much and rather disappointed. They have a chapel n grounds and birds everywhere. One main problem that occurred was Sunday brunch. They had a goat ( I think) on a spit and when we got back from the morning safari for lunch it was disorganized as to seating. Also when we got there the meat was finished on the spit and the selection was poor at their bar b q. major problem but I do not feel that would prevent me from saying a great place. The restaurant itself was lovely with outdoor on patio seating with an amazing view. The brunch was in the front gardens. Peacocks are plentiful as well as storks and ibis birds. The expansive grounds have ponds and other feathered wildlife. Lovely staff but again like all experience in Africa tipping is expected and solicited. This lodge also has horses, and 2 beautiful dogs if you want miss yours or want to take them for a walk. Lovely lodge indeed
free internet on site. worked better at lobby

Room Tip: room on 2nd floor so the windows open. put the sign in front of fireplace so they build and light t...

The suit was two rooms with a wood burning fireplace between the sitting room and bedroom. The views were wonderful from the room, from the porch, from the halls.walking the grounds is a dream. The gardens are very stately, with a maze. How much better can it get.

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you very much for taking the time to share your valued feedback with regards to your stay.
Guest feedback is so important to our operation and it is always gratifying to know that we have exceeded the expectations of our valued guests.
Your kind comments regarding our hotel and our facilities are greatly appreciated and will be eagerly passed on.
I am pleased that you enjoyed our maze; did you know that it is an exact replica of the world famous Hampton Court Maze in England. The maze itself is referred to as a multicursal or puzzle maze and is known for confusing and intriguing visitors with its many twists, turns and dead ends. I am delighted that you enjoyed your visit.
We all look forward to welcoming you and your family back to the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club - thank you for allowing us to turn your moments into memories.

I wasn't actually expecting such an experience as we got at Mt Kenya Safari Club. It really is a luxurious place which feels much less 'smoke and mirrors' than other ex-colonial clubs and is in a great setting.

As well as the accommodation (I highly recommend the alpine-style secluded riverside cottages) and abundance of food, the staff were really great. From the dapper-dressed and helpful Simon on security to Florence and Faith always smiling and Eric and his chef team showing me around; everyone was happy, helpful and really welcoming. You never feel like 'just another mzungu' here.

Wonderful hotel with good food and great views. Pool area is beautiful and has nice little bar. Lot's to do on property with animal orphanage, shopping, golf, horseback riding and much more. Our room was a little tired, but big and had nice fire place. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Spa was a bargain, and my lady was very good. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms offer Great views. Did not have out cottages, but they looked very cool. Don't get...

A beautiful location, and amazing rooms. We loved having the fireplace lit at the foot of our bed to take off the evening chill. Most food was good, especially the breakfast buffets. Lunch buffets were delicious wiht many items cooked to order. Afternoon tea and entertainment were very enjoyable. Dinner steaks were a bit tough, and drinks, expensive. We enjoyed exploring the grounds and walking along the maze and the equator. Mountain bike rentals were too expensive for the equipment provided.

Room Tip: No elevators, so if you have trouble climbing stairs, as for something on a lower floor. The views a...

This was my second visit to the place . The last one was 5 years back before Fairmont took it over. I did not have the best recollections and impressions from my last visit as I had then found the place moldy and run. However, our safari operator put this venue in our schedule and inspite of my initial diffidence, I am so happy that we stayed here. The whole place is completely re-done. Quite often game viewing in Africa can become a very stressful business. Also, a sort of routine sets in. A venue in between as Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club is is an ideal recharge. Your senses are taken in by the lush and pampering layout. The colonial style accommodation is so spacious and replete with typical charm. There is luxury, but, there is no stiffness. There is a homely feel to the accommodation and the stay. Yoo feel a sense of home. A huge part of this is to do with the gentle hospitality of the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The golf course is ideal for people wanting to take a few swings. Even non - golfers (as our young children) had the thrill of an hours training under a trained instructor for a nominal fee. You have a sense of bonding and belonging to this place. this is so important as you want your heart to feel warm too, especially when you are in an alien land. In the evening camp fires were lit up (we were there in the winters) and typical African dances are performed. the guests too are encouraged to join in and there is so much fun and Bohemia. Though there are no safaris here, but, you can walk to the animal protection center and see some very exotic animals from up close. The variety of monkeys, tortoise, Lamas, deer, hippos etc was fascinating. A care taker takes you around and fills you up with a lot of valuable information. You can feed the animals off your hands and have a few exotic monkeys land on your shoulder. Getting to the place in the afternoon is a suggestion as you get to see the Cheetahs being fed. They are in a big enclosure and you can see them from very close and fake a wilderness background :-) They are brought to another enclosure for feeding and you are just a few feet away !

Food s also excellent and they give you a fair selection of cuisine. I think the general hospitality of the staff, the period charm wrapped in luxury, the sprawling layout of the place and a feel where you can drop anchor and do nothing, but still have your senses pampered as well as soothed will be my lasting impressions of Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club. I will recommend this place without hesitation. In a land of high powered wildlife viewing, this venue would stand out as a delightful and tranquil oasis where one can regain touch with oneself and take in a fantastic expression of natural and man made charm.

Room Tip: Would suggest to travelers who are not in a hurry and focused only on safaris. Ideal for a 12 to 14...
