Directions - having passed the Equator and then entering the outskirts of Nanyuki, pass over the first speed bump. Look for the Standard Chartered Bank blue sign on the Right, also the Cape Chestnut sign (a little smaller). Take the turn to to a gourmets delight.
The lunch menu (main) is generally made up of four varied choices, ensuring fresh local produce. Food delicious, service attentive, efficient and friendly. Surroundings tranquil, everybody seems friendly.
There are other good restaurants in Nanyuki - but this one scores Gold.

We happened to be in Nanyuki on a Friday tapas night - the owners know how to seduce the palate with a great variety of tasty morsels, must give it a try if you are in Nanyuki !.

This is a wonderful restaurant that provides great food in a beautiful atmosphere. In a country where restaurants often serve the same standard fare, Cape Chestnut makes an effort to provide a variety of unique and tasty dishes as well as special events such as weekly tapas on Friday and regular curry lunches. As someone who often has trouble communicating my special dietary needs due to a gluten intolerance, I appreciate the effort that the staff at Cape Chestnut make to ensure that there is no cross contamination and provide special dishes when necessary. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting or living in Nanyuki.

Definitely the place to go on a Friday night. You'll meet great people, since everyone mingles here, and the spread of food satisfies my palate for sure. Variety, variety, variety, with a twist of surprise:) Ameet Aggarwal, Naturopathic Doctor. www.healthretreatsafrica.com.

Lovely soups, steaks, salads and even if not appearing on the chalk board menu, sandwiches can be rustled up if that's what you fancy. Tapas on a Friday evening is always a pleasure, sitting out on the veranda or under the starry sky, as platter after platter of delicious tempting savoury treats appear from the kitchen, followed up by some sort of delicious dessert to finish. Alternate Sundays is the very popular and sociable Curry Lunch, and the standard of food is always high. If you're in Nanyuki, don't miss it!

With a friendly warm and welcoming atmosphere Cape Chestnut is a tranquil retreat. You can gossip over an indulgent mug of hot chocolate, stay trim with a delicious salad or stuff yourself with steak. On alternate Sunday's you can enjoy a curry lunch, a fantastic social affair especially if you time it right and visit the farmers market too. I always visit on my trips up to Nanuyki and can be found having a working lunch on their veranda making full use of the free Wifi.
