We have safari'd before in South Africa so we had high expectations going into this trip.
The flight from Nairobi was only about 25 minutes and the transfer to the camp about an hour (with sone lion spotting on the drive in).
The camp is a nice mix of basic and luxurious, the tents all have a great view across the river and we had a groups of elephants watching our arrival into camp.
Our hosts Alex and Diana (and their team) really made the experience perfect. The combination of knowledge, passion, humour, hospitality and experience made our stay perfect. This is a lodge so great we would come back even if there were no animals - and we saw plenty of them!
Our morning run across the plains was a once in a life time experience, as were sunsets drinks beside the waterhole.
Alex and Diana are able to sort out all aspects of the trip, helping out with internal flights and transfers.
All in all our experience was perfect, definitely a trip worth buying a safari suit for!

We have traveled extensively in Kenya during the the last 3 years and The Bush Camp on Ol Pejeta is the place we keep coming back to. We have stayed many times, as a family, with friends, as a couple and every time is great. Alex and Diana and the team are very friendly, well organised, flexible and knowledgeable. The camp has 6 very comfortable tents and they are spaced well apart ... in fact the beds are some of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. It's a bit like camping for softies, you get the bush camping experience but comfy beds and a proper loo and shower. Go for a bush walk with Alex and the guide Patrick, you will be amazed at what you have been walking past and not noticed.!

The food is exceptional, they use locally sourced produce where ever possible and is a very welcome change from the 'death by buffet' one so often gets at lodges.

The Bush camp has a very exclusive feel about it but the cost is affordable. Ol Pejeta has a very high concentration of game and of course Mt Kenya in the background so game viewing is always a joy.

The Bush Camp is a great distance from Nairobi, 3 hours on a good road, so very easy for a weekend or if you have more time it fits very well with some of the other amazing places and activities in Laikipia. Diana can organise these for you too!

We just stayed at the Ol Pejeta bush camp with our 3 kids aged 12, 12 and 10 and all had a great time. It strikes a super balance of 'proper' bush camp but made extremely comfortable by the attentions of Alex and Diana who run the place and their super team. Our tent overlooked the river and felt extremely secluded - because it was - and indeed quite wild in a good way. Wildlife is all around (lions rollicking and roaring all last night) and the drivers / trackers and indeed Alex himself do not stint in locating points of interest in this very well organised part of the Laikipia conservancy - whether on a bush walk, bird spotting, visiting the rhinos or a game drive to see lions, cheetahs, black rhionos (lots of), elephants, beautiful reticulated giraffes etc etc. The day finishes with a convivial and intimate drink round a fire, comparing notes with others (I think at most usually 12 other guests in this rel small camp). Fantastic food in a mess tent which looks across the river (we saw lions, elephants and hippos within 100 yards of where we were eating on one day); comfortable beds - and great bush washing facilities with hot water delivered to your camp shower.

If you want swimming pools, 'entertainment', air conditioning etc then go somewhere else; if you value authenticity, a really comfortable tent, good food and a sense of being in the midst of the bush but in a safe and invigorating way then look no further.

Room Tip: ask for a tent overlooking the river

What an amazing place this is! Authentic, relaxing, beautifully organised, aesthetically inspiring, memorable dining, kind thoughtful hospitality and excellent service.
Don't bypass Alex and Diana if you're in Kenya.
Thanks for the memorable experience. I can still see your birds feeding at breakfast!

Having never been to Africa before, I didn't know quite what to expect.
What greeted us at Ol Pejeta bush camp was beyond my wildest expectations,
The knowledge that Diana and Alex Hunter have, and their enthusiasm for Kenya, shows through in every aspect of the camp. We saw so much game it would be silly to list it all here (the lions were the highlight) and the camp had an amazing combination of comfort, while being totally surrounded by wildlife-
After the amazing location and the knowledge of the trackers who accompanied us on our drives, the next best thing was the totally delicious food
Diana and Alex organised our safari from start to finish- it was fantastic. We have a two year old daughter, who was treated like royalty by the staff , Rather than move around from place to place, which can be tricky with a small child, we stayed at Ol Pejeta bush camp for 8 nights and that was a big part of the holiday as it allowed us to really enjoy the
Safari experience to the max and also visit the local rhino sanctuary etc
One thing that proved to me quite how good the place was, was the the other guests, who were all very interesting people who had chosen Ol Pejeta bush camp for the full immersion it offers into the safari experience. Some knew Kenya very well, some were first timers like myself. Everyone left feeling like they knew more.....

A perfectly located camp next to the river, with wonderful views for observing the ever changing animals coming to drink (including elephant). An incredible sight, especially during breakfast!
I have seen more wildlife than I could possibly imagine; a pride of lions on a kill on my first day; the gentle giraffes; a black rhino mother with her calf; walking on the plains with zebra, gazelle, antelope watching the sun go down! There is also a rich variety of birdlife, including eagles soaring over the camp.
Friendly staff, who are eager to please and always there with a smile, even at dawn with that first coffee!
Gilbert, who deserves a mention, for his fantastic culinary skills. I wasn't expecting such fine four course meals twice a day!
Alex and Diana Hunter who run the camp, have a spectacular knowledge of the area. Their passion for Africa and its future sustainability of the wildlife is evident. The perfect hosts! I was even allowed to drive one of the seven Land Cruisers out on safari.
This trip was everything one expects from a safari and so much more, and done with great style!

Fantastic trip in an amazing place. The big five like you never saw before (even on your TV). You'll be charmed by the hospitality of all the staff. I'm a kind of globe trotter, that trip will stay one of the most beautiful at the moment.
Don't hesitate, go !
