“Introduction to the Safari”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2014

Location: Right at the boarder of lake Elementaita.
Rooms: Very spacious rooms looking like tents.
Service: Eager to bring a good service and very attentive personnel. Some room for improvement - how to pour a wine and how much to pour into a glass.
Temperature: It was really cold in July and therefore we needed a fleece jacket during dinner, because there are no walls and no heating (a little minus)
Lake Nakuru: Can be easily reached within a day trip. At the National Park the 2 locations are less fancy and it is also a perfect stop on the way to Massai Mara (we didn't want to stay in Nairobi, so we drove the first day from the airport to the Hotel (3 hrs) and relaxed in the afternoon).
Pool: it was too cold (also during the day), when we were there, but there is a lovely swimming pool - small but nice.
Lounge Area: Very appealing.

Stayed one night recently (5 of us with 3 tents). Rooms are huge with enormous bathrooms that are clean and rooms very well appointed. Location of the property is off the beaten path but is idyllic on the shores of Lake Elementeita. It is a great place to relax and take in the lake and staff is exceedingly helpful. Food is served in 5 courses for lunch and dinner. Did not do a game drive (Soysambu conservancy) as we did not have time and location is about 1/2 an hour to Lake Nakuru.

One thing i was certain about when booking this accommodation is that one can never go wrong with serena properties.
We booked two nights in the camp and the place was simply luxurious.
The tents are about a dozen or more and detached from each other. Each of them has a great view of Lake elementaita which is a few meters from the property, and each has a good view of the sleeping warrior hill across the lake.
We arrived at almost 3pm from Nairobi and despite being so late, the staff were ready to serve a sumptuous late lunch.
All meals were to die for but my favorite was breakfast.
The next day we booked the resident masseuse for an early morning one hour massage to start the day followed swimming in the hotel pool. My partner slid in the pool and had a slight bruise but the hotel was quick to assist with their resident doctor. A big plus especially in the bush
The camp had planned to have the guests enjoy the evening outdoors around a bonfire but showers later that day couldn't unfortunately allow.
That was however replaced by a great time relaxing at the tent balcony sipping some white sweet wine, enjoying the breeze from the lake, soaking in views of the lake and laughing heartily in the wilderness

Lake Elementaita Serena is a great property located right on the shores of Lake Elementaita. When you see the sign to turn right which the opposite side of the Lake do not be worried because when you eventually drive through the Soysambu conservancy to the camp, you will be amazed. The camp decor is tasteful and sophisticated without loosing the bush aspect. Seating on the patio in my room was exciting as you have a drink and soak up the bush and scenery. The staff are friendly and are willing to spoil you as you enjoy your stay. The convenience to Nairobi is different the deal closer as it makes it very possible to head out to the camp for the weekend and feel like you have been on vacation for a week. LOVE LOVE IT!!!

This luxurious camp is located about 25 km from Nakuru town and right next to Lake Elementaita.

The camp has a lovely setting amongst the many varieties of trees and shrubs. All 25 tents have great views of nature and the lake. It was truly the most amazing scenery I have seen in a long time (something great happens when you mix wide open spaces and large water mass)
Spacious well-furnished tents with large shower rooms ( I could have stayed in there forever) , comfy king size bed in our tent. June gets cold in Kenya and the tent was a bit chilly in the night (at least for hubby) – would be great if they can provide extra blankets.

The food and service are of a high standard with 4-5 course menu for meals (ala –carte) , on check-in we had done 5hours of hiking Mount Logonot and were totally famished, the chef willingly obliged to request for more helpings .

Great place to relax, which we did mostly and hence did not take part in much of the possible activities (which include a mini hike to a great view point, walks in natural surrounding and game drives).

The staffs are very friendly and have the greatest service with a smile.
The price while still on the higher side is value for money when compared to hotel charges in the not too far Naivasha area and the facilities at this great camp.
I will definitely be back (God willing)

Room Tip: All tents have a great view of the lake , if you want to be closer to the main areas (then 10-14) an...

Inspite of, or perhaps because of, my first camping experience having been 5 nights of extreme cold ascending Mt Kilimanjaro, I tend to have an aversion to tents.

So it was a pleasant surprise to encounter the 'tents' of Lake Elementaita Serena. Definitely amongst the best rooms I've experienced in my life, huge and very nice. The 'rainfall' shower was great.

Perfect place for a quiet weekend getaway with excellent surroundings and great service. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place for you.

The nicest and most comfortable beds! Great food. Sun-downer drink and appetizers in the bush overlooking the lake was peaceful and lovely, and I barely had room for dinner that followed at the lodge. Great service. We also had a "bush breakfast" set and served with such class I felt under-dressed in casual safari clothes.

Room Tip: Our rooms were chosen for us as part of a Globus -Great Parks of Kenya" tour. I don't know...
