“Awesome place, wish we stayed longer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014 via mobile

Peaceful location near the lake shore, the tented rooms are beautifully designed. You feel like you are outside, but have all the conveniences of a luxury hotel room. The set menus are good, not great, but we wish we had stayed an extra day here rather than at Lake Bogoria. Highly recommended.

Wow, what a "tented" camp! Serena Elementeita is beautiful. We were in tent #4.

The rooms are individual "tents" with large entrance areas, roomy bedrooms and bathrooms. Excellent shower area with dual showers (one rainhead, one regular, at each end of the shower stall), comfy netted beds and a sitting deck off the back double doors. The furnishings were simple but elegant.

The staff were incredibly well-trained. All were very guest focused and very accommodating and friendly. Each tent had a tent concierge/attendant available to help with any requests etc.

The grounds and the pool area were beautiful and well maintained.

The reception area, the lounge area and the dining room were partially open to the outside and immaculately furnished. Meals were huge. Afternoon tea was available and boxed lunches were available for day trips to Lake Nakuru Park.

Security guards on the property were pleasant, friendly, discreet, yet available if needed (but we had no reason to require them).

Within the grounds were several waterbuck, monkeys and birds. Outside the hotel complex itself was a game conservancy and within 30 minutes drive, Lake Nakuru. It was unfortunate that when we were there, Lake Nakuru park was somewhat underwater. Heavy rains. Many of the roads had been closed as a result. The game drive was disappointing. And, at this time of year, the majority of the flamingoes had migrated to Tanzania. We probably would have been better off just staying close to the hotel on the conservancy there.

We loved this tent camp and wish we had been able to stay longer. I would highly recommend it.

This was easily one of the most fantastic accommodations I've ever had the pleasure of stepping foot in, let alone staying in. Everything about it was absolutely picture-perfect; I'd return in a heartbeat!

OK, to be honest, I was a bit embarrased to be staying in such luxury in the middle of Kenya..having just come from a sister property on Mt Kenya which was more mountian lodge..I was unprepared for the splendor of this place. Absolutely georgeous, Felt like British Colonial Royalty..as that is the ambiance and decor...we first got there and after hot towels and a mimosa, were sat down to an incredible lunch(I had lamb chops) that rivaled any big city 5 star dinner, with wine and dessert....we stayed 3 days, and though we were rained out of one game drive, (the shore on the lake turns to mud and you cant drive on it it is too silty...) we were given an additional drive on the shores of Lake Nakuru, good flamingoes, monkeys, lots of birds...zebra, etc.....I would return in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: we stayed on the very end for privacy/view and exercise. My guess is there isnt a bad room in the pl...

The site is absolutely beautiful with its yellow bark acacia trees and view of the lake. We were greeted with fresh juices, sparkling wine and eucalyptus infused towels after our 2 hour trip from Nairobi in the heat.

The design of the camp is very beautiful and the attention to detail is commendable.

The rooms are like tents. They have netted windows to keep the bugs out but allow the breeze in! The rooms have a small deck with comfortable chairs for you to relax on while enjoying the great view of the lake!

The food and service is some of the best i have ever seen, top class serena standard as usual!

The resident nature guide is very well informed and has a vast knowledge of the biology and ecosystem around the lake! He is definitely an asset to any tourist going on a game drive!

We had done a sun downer which took place on a near by cliff. The hotel had organized some tasty biting, drinks and a singer to make the experience memorable!

In summary, great camp and well worth the trip.

This venue is truly out of this world. We stayed here for two nights on our six night trip to Kenya with Lion Tour Luxury Kenya.

Tent
The "tents" are truly amazing and luxury. They have walls and light fixture and amazing showers in them, while still giving you a tent feeling. When you first walk into the tent, there is dressing area with a big dresser, mirror and a floor lamp. The bedroom is huge and luxurious feeling. Beds have canopy over them. The walls are screens and a sheet of thick fabric that you can roll up during the day and see the outside and roll down at night to keep work. The bathroom is huge, very well decorated and have great showers. Over it was great, and it actually really looks like the pictures that you see.
Food
Food here was great, not really African, but European/American style. The food can take awhile to come, so be sure to leave yourself sometime for breakfast before your game drives.
Areas Around
The best part about this venue is its location. It’s located on Lake Elmenteita, there are many different kinds of birds on the lake shore with the sleeping warrior mountain in the background. There is a small path that takes you to an overlook area near the lake. We saw some water buck and someone from our group saw hippos over there. The path is connected to each tent both by the front walk way and the back way from your patios. There is a pretty swimming pool, but we didn't get a chance to use it :( The weather was in general cooling than I expected. We had two game drives in the areas around, and we enjoyed both of them.

We went there a week back to celebrate our 3rd marriage anniversary and it couldn't have been better. We were given the 'Flamingo Suite' which is truly an epitome of luxury in wild. The bathroom alone is as big as a standard room in any 5 star hotel and has a Jacuzzi with 360 view of the Lake. The choice of furniture topped up with antique artifacts from the British era makes it a much richer experience. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The rooms towards left hand side have a better and cleaner view of the lake, however the suite on th...
