“Cramped small room but accordingly cheap”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

OK, this was just a one night stopover, but here's some info for you kiddies . . . . .

Small room, cramped bathroom, rather dark. The safe didn't work in the room (rather the owner turned them off as the "run the batteries down"), and manager didn't really want to switch it on for us. Offered to keep our valuables at reception. Room was very clean for what it was.

Their restaurant however was superb, cheap food and lots of it. If you want a $80 stopover without breakfast then then this is adequate, but no more really.

Room Tip: No tips for or against.

If you're planning to go to Zion National Park, this is a great place to stay. The town is small and artsy, the scenery is spectacular, and this lodge is very centrally located with onsite parking. The rooms are rustic, clean, and comfortable and have air conditioning, microwaves and refrigerators. The staff is very helpful and friendly. There is also a restaurant on the premises that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had dinner one evening and the food was very tasty and the staff was friendly and professional. A shuttle bus that takes you into the park is very close by and an easy way to enter the park without having to worry about parking.

A friend and I stayed here for two nights late April. Our booking confirmation had a 'warning' that we are to call and notify the hotel in advance if we're arriving after 10. We had trouble using our UK mobile phone and when we tried to call from a service station in St George, we went straight to the voicemail saying it was past office hour and all we could do is leave a message.

By this time, my friend was all stressed out, worrying that we won't get there in time and we won't have a bed to sleep at. We eventually arrived at the lodge just after 11PM. To our relief, the staff had left a note on the door, saying that they've checked us in and the room key is left below the mat.

This lodge is located just outside the national park entrance. Like everyone else who visited Zion, we had a car. But as it's really close to the park, we mostly walked to the park visitor office. View from the hotel balcony is amazing. The beds were large and comfortable. At £66 per night, this lodge is a little pricey but we found that there aren't many other cheaper options in Springdale.

My brother and I had a great stay while on a trip out to Zion. During our three nights, we greatly enjoyed who clean the room was, and how comfortable the mattresses were. Out of our hotels across our trip (4 total) this was by far the best stay. Our trip was near the end of April while the area was slightly less busy, therefore the prices were phenomenal too. The value, comfort, and amazing scenery available right outside of our room made this our favorite canyon our of Bryce and GC. The hot tub below the mountains was also a great feature. Thank you again!

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Zion national park. The room has a rustic feel to it, but clean and comfortable. There's lots of places to eat nearby and it is close to the entrance to the parks. Shuttle stop is just nearby too.

Had a great three-night stay at the Pioneer Lodge. Location is perfect to catch the shuttle into Zion and near restaurants, ships and grocery. All the rooms have cliff views, and even the first-floor ones over the parking lot are pretty.

On-site laundry was great for our sweaty hiking clothes, though we had to bug the front desk for change; no change machine. We also made good use if the pool and hot tub ... More great views soaking in the tub. There's also a gas grill on the first level that we used to cook burgers.

The room itself was small but adequate, with a table and two chairs, bed, dresser/tv stand and small kitchen area. The decor was north woods rustic but nice, and the room smelled like cedar.

The supplied shampoo, conditioner and body wash were surprisingly good quality for a hotel, as was the in-room coffee, though the front desk also has a little coffee shop for fancier fare. The cafe has a few computers with a pay cyber-cafe, but wifi is free for guests.

Would definitely stay here again.

I hate polyester bedcovers. It makes my skin feel like it can't breathe, but the sheets were OK and there were pillows to curl up with so it was bearable. The AC is a ceiling unit that blows right on you and it's difficult to figure out and control. It did make the night very uncomfortable. Everything else was fine. The hot tub was great and it was fun talking to folks there. The breakfast in the restaurant was pretty good too.
