“A Perfect Spot in Springdale”
Reviewed August 7, 2007

My wife and I decided to make a last-minute getaway from Las Vegas and we picked this charming little B&B based on a friend’s recommendation. In a town with many nice places to stay, Steve and Deb have a cozy little standout.

Steve was very kind to facilitate our late arrival with excellent directions and details of what to expect on the road as well as what to do when we got there. Given that we were a last-minute booking, we started in room 6 on the first night and then room 4. The rooms could not have been cleaner and they each hard their own climate control. Breakfast was tasty and generally of ideal weight for a day of hiking or biking. Between the main course and plenty of sides, most tastes will be satisfied.

Prior to going there we knew almost nothing about the town or the park. Steve and Deb gave us ideal suggestions for our first day there. They are conveniently located in the middle of Springdale; you have access to the whole town on foot.

Their website gives refreshingly accurate non-misleading photos. What you see will be what you get. Note: No doilies!

Stayed here for 5 nights as the first stage of a 3 week trip round Utah. We drove straight here from our UK flight into Las Vegas airport, which wasn't too far. Springdale is a lovely place and the hotel was soo relaxing, sitting out on the porch watching humming birds and playing with the gorgeous dog, Smoo. Steve and Debs made us feel so welcome, really could have stayed longer. They know lots about the local area and people and introduced us to Mike who does the photography trips in Zion which was also a great day out.
The breakfasts were huge and tasty, something different every day and a really sociable event. Steve has a wicked sense of humour! You really feel like you have been welcomed into someone's home.

  • Liked — the atmosphere
  • Disliked — bit hard to lie in bed late - then again who wants to with Zion next door!

Spent 4 nights at Under the Eaves and found Steve and Deb to be very accommodating and helpful in every way the could. From recommending restaurants to suggesting hikes and supplying us with topo maps, they were quick to help with anything. The food at breakfast was great, and talking with all the other guest around the dinning room table was fun every morning. Couldn't have asked for more from a B&B.

We loved our stay with Steve, Deb and Smoo the dog. Smoo does a great trick that you will like (especially if you are a Democrat). We stayed with another couple in the eaves suite- it's huge and very comfortable. The location is convienent to the shuttle and all things in town (had a nice meal at Oscars). The breakfasts that they served were absolutely incredible- the best we have had anywhere. They were so good- we have asked Deb for her recipes. The house is surrounded by beautiful flowers and garden area. The stay could not have been better. Deb expressed that they were thinking of selling- hope that does not happen, but we wish for them the best.

My wife and I stayed at Under the Eaves June 2007. Really a fun place. Steve and Deb are very easy going and very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and "charming." The cottage in back is an old cabin from the old Zion Park system. They are great at helping us to find local things to do, and what to expect with different outdoors activities in the are. Breakfasts were fun and tasty.

The place itself if very convenient, and we walked to all our dinners from the B&B. There is a shuttle stop just down the street to take you to Zion. They have a cute dog, Smoo and a new puppy Moqui that are adorable. Hang out and play cards, drink a beer on a fabulous front porch, chat with Steve and Deb about their interesting paths in life. Highly recommended.

Steve, Deb, and Smoo are great hosts! The room was very clean and comfortable. The main house and garden area are great for relaxing and recounting your travels with the other hikers. Breakfasts are very filling and super tasty! Very convenient to the park shuttles and other Springdale attractions. Very unique and not at all "touristy." Definitely recommend!!!!!!

We found this place whilst touring the South west looking for good places to ski or walk. What a find! It is clean and reasonably priced and Debs runs the place in a relaxed and efficient manner. However it is Steve that makes the stay memorable. If you have ever seen Faulty Towers you will understand if I say he seems to model himself on Basil. He is either shouting at his ancient British Land Rover, the dog, or just occasionally the guests. But his bark is worse than his bite (Steve that is, not the dog). He will do anything for you, provide you with as much useful (and useless) information as you want, and more, maybe whilst cooking an amazing breakfast at the same time. He'll even marry you, that is he has a licence to marry you (he's very clearly totally in love with the very loevly Deb.)
Go, go now and stay a long time.
