We travel through Zion at least twice a year and during our last visit had dinner at the Whiptail Grill after reading rave reviews on Tripadvisor. Everyone who loved it was right! They have such a creative and delicious menu. We went with the spaghetti squash enchiladas and the carne asada tacos - yum. The place is a renovated gas station and we ate inside. There aren't many tables - we wanted to eat outside, but the wind was ferocious. Everything is made fresh, so it takes a little longer, but is worth the wait. My only complaint about the place is that there were a lot of flies.

“Don't let appearances deceive you -- this place delivers!”
Reviewed September 10, 2010

This unassuming converted gas station looks modest, but serves a creative southwestern-fusion cuisine that would get rave reviews back in my home of Southern California. My family and I dined there "al fresco" on a warm September evening based on TripAdvisor reviews and were certainly not disappointed. Their signature Spaghetti Squash Enchiladas were uniquely sensational, and their Carne Asada Tacos, Prawn Tacos and Bleu Bacon Burger were delicious in their own right. Everything is cooked to order, so this place is not for you if you're looking for a quick "eat and run" meal. If on the other hand you have the time for a casual, relaxing, reasonable and thoroughly satisfying meal, this is a place you need to patronize. Thank you TripAdvisor reviewers ... you definitely steered us in the right direction!

“Great Little Restaurant”
Reviewed September 9, 2010

We stayed two nights at the Amber Inn in Rockville. Nida recommended we go there. She described the food as "Creative Mexican". Since we both love spicy food - we decided to give it a try. This place is very unassuming situated in a converted gas station. It was absolutely great. Everything is fresh and home made with healthy portions. He has a good selection of microbrews. I had the Zion Canyon Hop Valley IPA and a Polygamy Porter.

We liked it so well - we came back the next night! After hiking The Narrows all day, I needed to treat my wife well! The food was just as excellent and Jeff's wife made her famous habanero chocolate creme brulee that was simply the best. Highly Recommended!

“Little pricey for a gas station.”
Reviewed September 9, 2010

Had lunch here, two kids pizzas and an adult salad later for $40 bucks seemed high. Gets good notices and we didn't really get to try dinner. It's a very small operation and seems to get overwhelmed quickly. Renovated gas station.

“Great Little Place”
Reviewed September 6, 2010

We almost missed this converted Gas station. We ate there twice and were not disappointed. Yes the service can be slow but your in Zion beautiful scenery especially at dusk. The service is slow because everything is made to order one page menu made me feel even better not some fast food place. The desert tasted a bit like it was pre frozen that would be my only complaint. The roasted chile pepper relleno was FANTASTIC, as was the Tofu dish and the spaghetti enchiladas all in all we had two great meals. The owner who sometimes has to wait tables was friendly and apologized when our meal was taking long he said they were making fresh chips and so they were they ere excellent with the guacamole, yes it is spicy but then again what isn't in real mexican food. I lived in New Mexico for two years and this little place reminded me of some of the great place I had eaten there. Yes it can be pricy but we ate at the spotted dog and for our money we were more satisfied with our taste buds and time at the whiptale a definite do not miss.
