After our first night in Zion, my wife and I were ready for a relaxing dinner on an outdoor patio. The Bit & Spur was our choice and our first impression was that it was a quaint piece of local flavor - just what we were hoping for to wrap up day one.
The service was fine, although we only counted two waitresses for a busy evening. Nothing to complain about - just a little slower than you would expect.
The Bit & Spur has a very nice menu - varied selections to satisfy a variety of tastes and desires. However - here's where the criticism begins. The flavor was just underwhelming for both of our entrees…I would even go as far as using the word "bland". The portions were generous and the potential for a great meal was right there within grasp, but the flavor just fell far short of expectations. It almost felt as if it were a conscious overreaction to avoid being too spicy or too seasoned.
This may have been an isolated experience, so take it with a grain of salt (pun intended). So close to being excellent, but if the food quality falls short then average is the best rating that I can serve up for this local option.
