We did the river hike up The Narrows in Zion in early August as a family of 6. We all rented equipment the night before from Zion Adventure Co so we could get an early start teh next morning. We are so glad we rented the package with socks, shoes and walking stick as we couldn't have done it otherwise. even my 11 year old daughter loved it and agreed that the equipment made all the difference. The river bed is slippery and you can't always see where you are stepping. Parts are deep too. Do not do this hike barefoot or with sneakers - it will not be pleasant. ZAC was efficient, patient, and answered all of our questions in a professional manner. Also very well organized and reasonably priced.

Highlight if our trip! We were a large party - 6 of us - and our guides Diana and Zack kept us moving, engaged and entertained. We did 8 or 9 rappels in the most amazing canyon. Every one of our group agreed this was by far the best excursion we have done. The scenery was breath-taking and the adventure was so much fun. Well worth the money and will definitely be back for more.

We signed up for a half day canyoneering with ZAC ( coz thats all the time we had! :(. ) and after 2 days of rain and flood advisory since we've been in zion np.. The sun shone and it was a gorgeous day to do canyoneering. Everything flowed smoothly from the drive to the canyons, hiking, scrambling, stemming and of course our rappelling. We were able to do 4 rappells in half a day! Whew! Thanks to our guide Bill W who made this an unforgettable experience. And did i mention that he's not only our guide, but he's our photographer! You get to keep a copy of your experience in a usb drive! Beat that! Definitely a must do and do it with Zion Adventures!

We reserved a day of Canyoneering without really knowing what we were in for! We have two boys 16 & 17 and a girl 13. We had an EXCELLENT guide (Ben) who took us to the perfect canyon for us - several good sized repels and lots of canyon obstacles which must be overcome with stemming, bouldering or sliding. Let me be clear that none of us have ever done anything like this before, and we all had a wonderful time! Our guide made sure that we understood safety principles and offered help and advice whenever we asked. He even took photos all along the way and gave them to us on a flash drive at the end of the day. We loved our adventure!

We had pre-booked several months in advance to do the tubing, which is just as well, as the day we had it in our diary, it was about 75F, and the water and air temperature were nearly the same! We were a family with kids of 9 and 11.

We arrived in coats, and the friendly young lady asked whether we REALLY wanted to do it? We had a quick conflab, and decided YES, we were up for it!

We collected our tubes, and carried them the 200m to the river. The first thing that faced us was rapids. Rapids? No one said anything about rapids?!?! I looked down the river, to see where the clear water was. There was none! So we hopped on, and got wet!

The river was low, and the flow was slow (30CFS). To put this in context, according to a park ranger, it can go as high as 2000CFS, and they stop letting people tube it when it gets above 200CFS (Cubic Feet Second).

The tubes seem to go where they want, which is usually backwards, in circles or the wrong way!! We spent a lot of time dodging rocks, wedged on rocks and generally giggling and hooting with laughter.

It's not a serene slide down a glassy river - at this water level, you need to work at it, but that's part of the fun. If you want to tip off, you probably will. If, like me, you have spectacles, you shouldn't have to, but you might just!

About 2 hours after we'd started, we arrived at the end, and 5 minutes after we arrived, we were collected and returned back to the shop - 2 miles back up the road.

We were lucky and unlucky. We were unlucky that it was the temperature and water level that it was. We were lucky that the 4 of us were the only people on the river. They take groups of 20, and given many places have only 1 channel through, I imagine it can get busy.

Friendly, lovely, happy staff!

Recommended family fun!!! :0)
