Zion Canyon Campground

We stayed two nights in our RV, the first in a site right by the Virgin River and the second in another site. Both were nice and quiet. This is a big campground connected with a Quality Inn hotel. It's just outside the park and you can walk to the entrance or catch a town shuttle. The bathrooms could use more frequent cleaning. the staff was helpful and very responsive when we had an electrical hookup question. We would definitely recommend this site. Request a river site if you can.

The park was well maintained, but sites were way to close. Although we understand this is the case in a commercial campground, people parked wherever they could. Our neighbors on both sides had their trucks overlapping into our site - there simply wasn't enough room. Unfortunately we were assigned a spot right across from the playground and bathrooms. It was very noisy with screaming children up until about 9 PM. At the far end along the river people had music playing loudly until 11 PM or later. Our neighbors sat around their campfire until late at night and talked - unfortunately that was pretty much right under our slideout (since the sites were so close). There didn't appear to be any monitoring of noise into the evening hours. There is a hotel on the property as well, so convenient for families traveling together who may need that. The best thing is that it was close to the park and the shuttle picked you right up at the front. Internet access was good.

We made reservations in advance so that we could park our RV with full hook ups near the park. It was the perfect location to ride the shuttle to and from the park. Just a walk across the street to the shuttle stop. We stayed 3 nights. The campground could use some TLC. You can't choose a campsite and we were next to the playground. There were older kids running all over the place, including our campsite (which was small) and they were screaming. It was nice to see them having a good time but a peaceful nap was impossible as they kept running through our campsite. Considerable litter in the campsite when we arrived. Although we are self contained, I wanted to check out the restrooms and showers since there were 5 of us in the RV. I walked in and right back out as they were in poor shape and dirty. All in all I'm glad we stayed there. Our visit to Zion was perfect and we spent very little time in the campground. If you're looking for peace and quiet you might want to stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: Request a site away from the playground. Even if you have small children you'll want to walk th...

We stayed for four nights. There are No rules at this RV park. People smoked everywhere, including the rest rooms. They walked around the park smoking, so one could not avoid it. Kids rode motorized scooters around and around for hours. There was a picnic pavilion, but it was full of rocks because kids use it for rock fights. There were unattended children everywhere. People stayed up late partying and we were awakened early by kids screaming. The first night we were there, it sounded as if there was a drum circle. The rest rooms are very dated and the showers, which are limited to 6 minutes a day, were not clean.

The rates are reasonable and it is very convenient to Zion National Park.

Room Tip: There is no room, pool or fitness center here, so ignore those ratings.

my girlfriend and i (uk) first stayed at the camp in september 2012, but didnt really get much of a chance to see what we would have liked, due to a tight itinery, and a later than expected getaway from las vegas in our rental rv. we arrived quite late in the evening, and were booked into a campsite in bryce the next night, so didnt get to explore much.
to remedy this, we stayed for three nights in late september 2013, and got the full zion experience.
we liked the campground, the first time, and loved it the second time.
both times at reception was hassle free, we turned up on spec, and were parked up within 15 minutes.we didn't need wifi, mobile phones or television, as we had all the spectacular scenery we could take in. the showers were ok, and we were told they didnt last that long, and we could get extra tokens if we needed them.
to be fair it is a big gravel parking lot in the middle of some of the best scenery in the world, and looked better than the other site inside the park (to my eyes).
we plan to return to zion later this year, and will be staying at the campground again.
the town of springdale is choc full of restaurants, diners, shops, arts and crafts etc, a large supermarket and filling station.
we recommend it

We requested for a campsite on the river, and we got one by the river. Since being to Zion before, I knew I wanted to be in a hotel/campsite on the river. The campsite was a nice size, and had a beautiful view. If you don't have a campsite on the river, I don't think this place would be as enjoyable, because the rest is more like a parking lot... They had nice clean bathrooms and a pool you could use. The staff was also nice. The location is great. It is right across the street from the outfitter, and there is a shuttle stop right in front!

Spent 2 nights here at the end of our 18 day camping tour of the Western US. As with everywhere else, the campsite is hard ground for the tents and very stony under foot. We had a riverside pitch and this was very pleasant. Cooler with the shade from the trees too. The campsite has use of the outdoor swimming pool - lovely to cool off in the heat of the day. The showers were not the cleanest but I have seen a lot worse. Many of the cubilcles have broken tiles. The tokens give you 6 minutes of hot water which I found to be more than enough time to have a good shower. However, the tokens took me ages to work out how insert as the gadget they are inserted into was above my eye height - not easy to do only by feel. Toilets were fine.

As others have said, the shuttle bus to Zion NP stop just outside the campsite. Due to the shut down, these were not running so can't comment on their frequency or efficiency. The views around the campsite are wonderful.
