I had only 2 days in Springdale and wanted to see as much as possible. After my 1st full day hiking, I took the sunset jeep tour. It was easy to make the reservation online. I was picked up right on time at a b&b in town.
The jeeps are quite large. There were only 3 people on my tour, as it was a weeknight off-season. We had all thought to bring sweatshirts, but needed the blankets they provided by the time the sun was down and we'd climbed higher. They also have a cooler full of water for when it's hot.
We drove a bit west out of town and then up the Kolob Terrace Road. This is in the land between the 2 parts of Zion. It's mostly private ranchland. The ride isnt bad at all. It's certainly not as bumpy, adventurous as the Sedona jeep tours, for instance. But you cover lots of ground, with just awesome views.
I can't tell you how many times I just kept exclaiming, 'Wow!' And that's not usually me. Our driver was so knowledgeable about the plants, animals, history, habitats. He was able to answer any questions we had.
It was well worth my money.
