We've stayed at the Yosemite Lodge for years and recently had Sunday brunch in the Mountain Room Restaurant. What a treat! The food was amazing and there was something for everyone. It really seemed like a bargain for all the delicious food.

We took duck and trout. Both were good.
A bit pricey. Service is responsive, although as we came at opening we did have to wait a bit for the food.

This restaurant is part of the Yosemite Valley Lodge and is a welcome change from burgers and fries sold in the food hall near the front road. Lovely ambiance, high ceilings, timber finishes, the mood is set from the moment you arrive. Comprehensive menu, food cooked and presented well, wait staff a little hit and miss but no different from any other restaurant. Wine selection fine, choice of local and imported wines available.

No complaints, we were one of the last groups to leave for the night but felt no pressure to leave. The only low light was waiting time to get in - there are limited dining options in the park and it is essential you arrive early and then take the pager/buzzer and be in the vicinity when it goes off. The lodge doesn't really have a waiting area to accommodate patrons waiting for their tables and the adjacent bar had no seating for people waiting to be called to dinner.

But overall a lovely place to dine, good value, good portion sizes, beautiful setting.

While I love the dining room at the Ahwahnee (Majestic) Hotel for it's beauty, I don't really care to eat there. Too big, open, cold, noisy. And expensive, plus snooty. I always choose the Mountain Room instead, if I want a quality sit down meal in Yosemite Valley.

Fresh fish choices, several steak options, chicken and pasta dishes, vegetarian and vegan alternatives, and a kitchen that doesn't mind switching this sauce on that steak or this noodle for that pasta. Fresh warm sourdough bread, a full bar with lots of speciality drinks, and oh the desserts, they are wonderful.

Staff is super friendly, professional, attentive without being bothersome (another thing about the Ahwahnee/Majestic I do not like, they hover and fidget).

This is a nice restaurant, views of Yosemite Falls and uniformed servers. Expect to pay at least $100 for two people if you have a drink or an appetizer plus your entree. And for heavens sake, tip the staff well, they work for peanuts and deserve it.

We were so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at the restaurant. We had just been to another national park where the food was very mediocre. The Mountain Room, while not inexpensive, was worth the price with delicious fish (that's mostly what we had) and vegetarian options and good soups. A great respite from burgers, hot dogs and fries.
