Great place to have a simple meal in the middle of nowhere, no complains at all. Really thankful that it existed and settled our dinner when we arrived.

I would say that “food court” is a bit of a misnomer for this place. It is definitely more like a “cafeteria.”
We stayed at the Lodge for four days, and had most of our breakfast and dinners there. By the end of the trip, we were pretty tired of it, but I suppose it was good enough while it lasted. This is the “cheapest” option that you have in the Valley for food (dinner entrees average about 12-13 dollars per person. Breakfast will probably be 10 dollars per person).
For dinner, the beef tenderloin and trout was good, but the pork was pretty tough and chewy. For breakfast, the eggs are a bit dry, and their toast is rubbery (they toast it ahead of time and leave it under a hot lamp…)
They definitely need a better way to handle the lines. In the morning, there is only one person doing all of the pancakes and waffles, creating a long, unnecessary line.
I would recommend tipping the people that bus your trays at the tables. I think they have to separate out your compost versus recycling versus whatever.

Yosemite is of course far from civilization so food options are rather limited, especially in the winter when many of the already few restaurants are closed. The actual restaurants (Ahwahnee Dining Room, Mountain Room) are high priced options, and if you're planning a long stay you may have to eat a few low cost meals to help balance your budget.

That being said, BE PREPARED. The food here is average cafeteria style and, while good, takes FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER to get. The place was so packed when we went that it took about 25 minutes to get food for a family of four. I went back for a hot dog and it took 15 minutes to get ONE HOTDOG. 15 Minutes!

The place is popular with families, and kids seem to like to open the door quite often, which sends a sharp, cold blast of air into the entire room during the winter and is extremely annoying. Then of course, one of said kids might fall and sprain his ankle and the wold has to stop while an ambulance is called for him....but I digress.

You need to make a choice. You can spend 25 minutes jostling the crowds and waiting in line for average food at a low price, or you can sit at a table sipping wine and nibbling appetizers while your $35 steak is grilled to perfection. The choice depends on you and your budget.

We ate here a few times because it was the most convenient and they had good (Peets) coffee. The food is very much like you would find in a cafeteria, but tasty enough to get you going.
