“Worth a Trip”
Reviewed June 13, 2014

Much steeper than I thought! We stopped and rested probably 5 times just going to bottom of first water fall. Be ready for an uphill walk. If you keep going, there are steep rocks stairs and if you keep going to the top, there are rocks to walk on. We did not walk to Half Dome. Stopped at Nevada. There were three bathrooms at the levels. A lot of people do this trip. I thought the numbers would drop off after the first level they didn't. Most kept climbing. It was crowded. Beware the squirrels are very friendly. Signs say $5000 fine if you feed them. They jump on your lap! It was such a beautiful experience if you can do it!!

“Mist trail to Vernal Falls”
Reviewed June 12, 2014

Although somewhat crowded, the trail is a wonderful hike and a bit strenuous. Fortunately, there are restrooms and water halfway through where a bridge over the rushing stream offers a chance to catch your breath. After that, the trail gets tougher as you need to take big strides up the rock stairs. Luckily, the mist from the waterfall is all around you to cool you off. Wonderful experience to get close to this magnificent water fall.

“Great hike only 1mile but pretty steep”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

This hike really had me breathing hard. You need to be in pretty good shape to hike this. Trail is great but a bit steep. View of the Vernal Falls is great. Can't wait until next visit to keep going up further on the trail to Nevada Falls or Half Dome!

“Pretty”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

We did this trail as the first leg of our Half Dome hike. The waterfall is beautiful and it's awesome being able to get so close to it, but be aware that you will get a little wet and you need to be careful on the steep, wet stone stairs you'll be climbing next to it.

“Get ready to get wet”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

Mist doesn't really describe the trail. Yes it is only .8 mile to the bridge and yes Vernal Falls is visible but you really have to continue for some special views (look for a flat rock on the left just past the John Muir Trial for a great Ansel Adams view of the falls. It gets steeper and wetter as you go but after the wet stair stepper you get to the top for a great view. On for another 2 miles (and 900 vertical) to the top of Nevada Falls and then down the John Muir Trail (4 miles) to the valley with wonderful views of Half Dome on the way.
