Terrific home base for trip to Yosemite.
It is cozy (small) and rustic (dated), BUT - very clean, very well stocked, no funky smells, and was perfect for our family of 5 spending a few days exploring Yosemite.
Holly was available both before and during our stay with great advice for any questions I had.
It's not "the Ritz", but for the type of vacation it serves, it was convenient, clean, and reasonably priced.
Be aware, the wifi is nearly nonexistent - hopefully while on vacation in one of the most beautiful locations on the planet, you can unplug and not miss it. But if you need to check in with the outside world now and then ... a weak signal can be picked up ~ 2/3 of the way down the hall. It was actually pretty amusing seeing several guests out wandering the halls attempting to pick up a signal for the different units :-) I guess there's only so much that can be expected pretty much in the middle of nowhere ...
PERFECT that it is within the gates of the park, and only ~ 30 minutes to Glacier Point or a little longer to Valley Floor. Far preferable to staying at the limited motels I was finding, only sleeping 4, that are much further out. I hadn't realized when planning the trip just how important the location is.
( It was our first trip to YNP - be aware that during the summer especially, there can be lines just to get in the gates, and once in the gates it is at least another long drive depending on which gate you enter - to get to the Valley Floor. Being in the park already saved an hour or more each day)
All in all enjoyed our stay and would stay there again when traveling to Yosemite.
Clouds Rest was the perfect getaway. It has everything you could want for a few days away with the added bonus of being surrounded by the most stunning scenery.
If our group of 4 adults said it once we said it a dozen times, the location in Yosemite West was absolutely perfect for our daily excursions to our Yosemite destinations. We entered the Park at the east entrance over Tioga Pass so did those sites on way in---including Tuolumne Meadows and El Capitan -- so did not have to go east again. 20 mile drive day one to Tuolmne Grove stopping along way at Tunnel View and Bridal Veil Falls. Day two very short ride to road to Glacier Point where we spent morning then on another 15 miles to Valley Floor and hike to Yosemite Falls. Also perfect if existing Park at South entrance as we did.
Advise to arrive in daylight as private complex is very secluded and unloading involves stairs as unit is upstairs. Quiet and peaceful but parking lot fills up by night fall. Cooking in was easy because of well supplied kitchen. The 2 loft queen beds were comfy and loft had large closet for luggage. Nice that each couple had own bathroom facilities. Deck great for relaxing after full day of hiking. Holly very quick,to respond prior to and during trip. She provided excellent directions to location. This unit had wifi but no cell service. Laundromat one door down---takes quarters--change machine available.
Book with realistic expectations---this 600 sq ft condo will turn your good friends into your very best CLOSE friends. Secondly no housing in hiking country should have carpeting. Thirdly the barbecue grill needs numerous replacement parts---although we managed to perfectly grill steaks on it.
If I would rate this rental on location and the supplies available for cooking, I would give the rental a 5. However, we had trouble at first getting into the condo and the beds/pillows could use a bit of a refresher.
After a long drive to Yosemite from San Francisco, we attempted to get into the condo, but the provided code did not work. After about 30minutes and several attempts calling both the caretaker and Holly, Holly finally returned our call, and was able to give us an alternate code to use to enter.
Once in the rental, we were welcomed with a very nicely stocked kitchen, a warm space and comfy seating. The rug could probably use a good cleaning or upgrade to tile/hardwood as it is stained most likely from hikers walking in with less than clean shoes after a long day on the trails.
The location of the condo is spot on. It's inside the park and has quick access to hiking trails and the village.
The beds were a bit on the hard side, nothing a pillow top couldn't fix, but the pillows were definitely in need of replacing. They we older foam and have seen better days. There were a few other pillows in the cabinet by the fridge, but not enough to replace the four pillows my family needed.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Yosemite, but were left a bit underwhelmed by The Cloud Rest condo.
The condo was great, quiet, comfortable, and well equipped. We were very happy to find there were essentials such as toilet rolls, spices, and condiments there. It was in an excellent location within the park, and was especially handy to get to Glacier Point, Wawona, & Yosemite Valley. We all had a fabulous time, and were pleased that we had chosen to stay here. Holly was great at communicating with us, and always replied quickly and was polite and friendly. I would happily recommend this condo as a base from which to explore Yosemite.
A nice condo in a block. Well located for glacier point and a very reasonable drive time to the valley. The balcony looks onto the car park but it's nice and quiet. There are two bathrooms and when I phoned Holly because I couldn't work the shower (my fault) she was on it, offering to send her manager round straight away. This a perfect place for a comfortable stay when visiting Yosemite
Clean spacious accommodation where our family of 4 stayed for 2 nights. Excellent location for drive into Yosemite Valley via tunnel. Met all our expectations and very much appreciated having 2 bathrooms plus the well stocked kitchen cupboard (tea, coffee, spices etc).
Holly was the perfect owner and responded very quickly to any queries we had before the visit.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
