stayed here for 2 nights and it was very comfortable, stayed in the small accomadation under the owners. there was only two of us , so it was perfect. well kitted out with all mod cons..washer, dryer, cooker, fridge, mwave, dishwasher, even cable tv with loads of channels, good for the dark nights. great base to catch all the tourist attractions, but the biggest attraction was seeing black bears, coyotes and deer near the property, a big bonus.

My family stayed at Coyote Walk for 4 nights. The house was perfect for our needs. The location is in Yosemite West and is about a 30 minute drive to the Valley and 20-30 minutes to Glacier Point. It is inside the park gates so that makes things very convenient. Traveleing with a baby, having a house was just fantastic, and what a great value! They had a highchair and crib also, which helped out!

The house was nicely furnished (some rooms nicer than others). It felt very homey. The inn keepers at Cozy Bear were also very nice.

If you want to rent a house in Yosemite, you could pay a lot more, but I don't see why you would.

The only comment I would make is that the house needs a fresh coat of paint (on the expterior) and a deep cleaning. It didn't feel dirty in any place that really counted, but the windows could have used a good washing. Also the second 'bedroom' is actually a loft above the family room (which worked out fine for us).

We chose Cozy Bear after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. Overall we were not disappointed. The alternatives for a stay in July are to stay with the crazy hordes in the Valley (no thanks), a crummy motel outside the park or splash out on the Awanahee Hotel. So for 5 of us the price was not much more than Curry Village tents - say no more. The cottages are convenient for both Glacier Point and the Valley floor, both 20-25 minutes away, roadworks permitting. Most of the other reviews hit the positive and negatives:
Positives - pretty good value compared to the alternatives,
your own space,
kitchen and BBQ facilities,
owners next door and available for help and advice
Negatives - many people have mentioned that the place could do with a good clean/dusting,
the decor can be a bit overwhelming (just too many bears),
owners next door and look right onto the property!
if yapping dogs bother you, then you might find the owner's two small dogs annoying.

But if I were to go back to Yosemite I would gladly stay there again.

We stayed at Coyote Walk and overall we were satisfied with our stay. The location is terrific and the prices were reasonable. We were close to Yosemite, Glacier Point, and the Mariposa Grove. The place was very large and we had plenty of room for our family of four. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen utensils, pots, pans, plates, etc. Lots of books and DVDs. The host was very friendly. We rate it four stars. How could it be a 5 star place with very little money? The kitchen could use a good scrub down with comet cleanser. The inside of the refrigerator should be scrubbed as well. The pot holders in the drawers had dried food on them. Ick.

Only 12 miles from the Valley. Comfortable, cozy fireplace, stocked kitchen (all but food), GREAT beds and bedding, quiet, owners on site and available for questions/advice, large wrap-around couch in LR that seats plenty of people, CLEAN, outdoor eating area/BBQ with tools, what else can I say? We've stayed there on 3 separate trips and will stay again. Reasonably priced, and well worth it to get a good night's rest to charge up for full day of Yosemite activities!

We stayed at Cozy Bear Cottage for 3 days and found it to be very clean, comfortable, and convenient. It was very private and quiet, yet close enough to Yosemite National Park (the valley area) that we could arrive early and avoid much of the crowds. The cottage was thoughtfully supplied with amenities that made our stay very comfortable.

We loved the Cozy Bear. We stayed in a hillside two-bed, two-bath chalet (three flights of stairs inside, two flights outside) located one driveway before the main house. It was so spacious and comfortable. The loft bedroom with vaulted ceilings upstairs was huge. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook meals. (There's a nice grocery store in Yosemite Valley.) There isn't any cable or internet connection, as you'd probably expect, but there's a nice TV with lots of DVDs. This chalet is only about 35-40 minutes from Mariposa Grove and less than 30 minutes from Yosemite Valley. It's very easy to get up to Glacier Point from here too. It was a great price for two couples. We'll certainly stay here again.

  • Liked — price, amenities inside chalet
  • Disliked — no lights on driveway, steps (but flashlight was provided)
