“A peaceful and beautiful spot”
Reviewed August 2, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We came here for a couple of nights stay in order to visit Yosemite. It is well positioned for this, being 40 minutes or so from the park itself. However, for us Yosemite was not to be as, just 30 minutes after our arrival, a mud slide a few miles up the main road completely blocked it. This freak event meant we would have to drive a lot of extra miles and several hours to get to the park and back.

However, this place is such an oasis of calm and beauty we decided not to bother with all that. The views are wonderful. Within a short while four deer sauntered past and a flock of turkey vultures did a fly past. We opened some beers and lit the barbecue and relaxed.

Irene and Brad were very friendly hosts. Brad was kind enough to give us a tour of the ranch the next day and show us his beautiful horses.

The house is delightfully quirky. Everything worked, except the wifi, but Irene was quickly on the scene and sorted it out.

If you want to stay somewhere truly secluded, near Yosemite, and at a reasonable price, then this is the place. If I get the chance to return, I will be looking to book here again.

“Great value, unique and peaceful home with lovely hosts”
Reviewed June 21, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

I stayed here with my boyfriend and one other couple for 3 nights. We were late to our booking and no options inside Yosemite or closer were available. If I went back, I would like to stay closer as the drive is a good 45 min to one hour from house to park. However, the home is very unique, was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It's quite simple, but you're there for nature after all, not for a fancy hotel room. Lovely hosts. Especially recommend for a fmily with children as the loft area would be very fun for them.

“Peaceful and Beautiful”
Reviewed September 11, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We headed up a dusty remote track and were warmly welcomed by Irene and Brad who took us up to the holiday house. The house is definitely "rural" but that just means it has character and is so much less plastic than everywhere else we stayed on the trip. Brad came up to feed the cows and we sat outside and had a beer and a chat in the warm evening. He's quite a character. Irene had generously given us some fresh trout they had caught so later we BBQ'd them - delicious!

It's about 45 minutes to the Yosemite entrance, but it's a fantastic drive and we enjoyed it every day. Yosemite is amazing but quite busy so it's great to get away to the privacy and absolute silence of the dome home. It was great sitting outside in the evening so I'm afraid we used up most of the BBQ charcoal.

We really enjoyed the Dome Home and will definitely return if we can save up for another California holiday.

“It was just lovely!”

Just got back from a 5 day stay in the Dome Home, and it really was everything we wanted and more.

Yes, it is "rustic" but we felt that added to the charm of the place. The decor was a little dated, but spotlessly clean, and quite honestly for roughly $250 a night for a family of 5 plus a dog we were more than happy with it.

The kitchen has everything you could need (including a wine bottle opener! Thank you!) and the living space is large and comfortable. Very thankful for the WiFi access and the cable TV. The four single beds are up on a "loft" type level, and it can get pretty hot up there so good advice from Irene to just keep the very efficient A/C running.

The back door was broken, but no big deal - you just lock it while open, and then to shut it, close and pull up. After doing it a couple of times you get the knack (FYI until it is fixed). There was a leak coming from the bathroom sink tap, we noticed on the second morning when I went into the cupboard under the sink, but again no big deal, I just popped a bowl under there to catch the drip (it only happened when the tap was running) and just let them know when we left. I really don`t know why people make such a fuss about such tiny little things - it`s an old house! It`s not as if the roof was falling in or anything major! The carpet was never damp when we were there. Never saw a single ant. All in all it was a rustic, charming little place. If you want 5 star - go to Tenaya Lodge. If you want peace and quiet, stunning views, lovely wildlife and seclusion - this is the place.

Yes, it is a good hours drive from the park entrance - but what a drive! We are the kind of people that take pleasure in the journey itself so it didn`t bother us at all. Staying inside the park was far more expensive (unless you are camping and if so, good luck getting a spot). Mariposa is no more than 20 minutes away with a good supermarket. We barbequed a couple of times and sat outside admiring the view and the cows as the sun went down. The kids loved the little tour of the ranch, and I walked the dog along some tracks on the farm that took me right away from everything. Even the kids put down their ipads and played in the dirt! Yes - the dirt - be prepared for dust and dirt and leave your Louboutins at home. This is nature!

We had a lovely time, and would definitely go back. Thank you so much to Bradford and Irene. Lovely people.

Liked best: The location, the WiFi access and TV, the barbeque
Liked least: Nothing really. If I had to nitpick, I`d say the decor, but really, there`s nothing wrong with it, just a little dated.
