“Five Star Accommodations, Tree Top Views, Artisan Paradise.”

There are few places in the world that match the splendor and beauty of Yosemite, and if you're heading to the park, there is no better vacation home than the House that Ruza Built. Conveniently located near the south Park entrance, and nestled in the trees, the home offers privacy, serenity and forest views. When you enter the home, the spacious great room, high ceilings and five-star furnishings are simply elegant. The tree top and pine forest views from the two decks are captivating. We rented the home for a four-day retreat - four women and a child - and it was quite a treat! The three bedrooms and great room are appointed with local artwork, books, and nice touches everywhere that make this house a home. Just down the road is a world-class resort, for food, drinks and merriment. Inside, the kitchen is fully appointed with a full-sized refrigerator, ice maker, stove, dishwasher, and all the pots, pans and wares for entertaining in style. Satellite TV's in the master suite and great room, good Wi-Fi connectivity, washer/dryer, central heat and air, a hot tub, and even a steam shower. We were so thrilled to have found this gem on tripadvisor. The House that Ruza Built is a dream home, filled with love, art and soul. We hope to return every year.

Liked best: The house is filled with love - original artwork, books, and a doll collection.
Liked least: The road to the driveway is a little tight - fine for small-medium vehicles, but don't bring an RV or big truck.

“Lovely Home In the Fragrant Pines”

I hadn't been to Yosemite in many many years and received an invitation to stay at this lovely family home in Fishcamp last week with friends who had rented it. The house is very comfortable, large with all mod cons. Good for families vacationing together. I was prepared to do without Wi FI - and was pleasantly surprised to find fast Wi-Fi and a dish for many TV channels. I enjoyed watching the birds from the deck. The open kitchen and living room is nice because meal preparation does not take you away from the family. There is a very engaging care-taker named John who came by to say hello. If you want more from your vacation than hotel living this home is for you. Side note : The Tenaya Lodge is just down the road and has both casual and fine dining options.

“Great Location and house”

The House that Ruza Built is an excellent place to stay while visiting Yosemite. We did not want to stay in the valley this time, and this house is about as close as you can get, just three miles from the Yosemite entrance and 45-60 minutes to the valley, depending on traffic. Scott, the owner, is very accommodating, and John, the caretaker, goes above and beyond (did a free little car repair for us, spent a lot of time shoveling the long driveway). The house has a lovely upstairs with a big fully equipped, modern kitchen and living area with a TV (something you can't get in the valley). The Internet connection was seamless and fast. The downstairs bedrooms have really excellent mattresses, and there is also a hot tub that runs all the time. The setting is beautiful.

“Excellent location to explore Yosemite”

This well equiped house has a great rustic feel. Our family, three boys 8,10.12 loved spending all day at Yosemite National park then coming home and relaxing in the spa before sitting by the fire and relaxing. The house is well equiped with 3 bedrooms and a kitchen with all appliances needed.
Our boys also enjoyed the rope swing attached to a tree behind the house.
The owner was a joy to deal with and made our stay easy and enjoyable.

“Warm, Cozy, Quiet and Comfortable”

If you are looking for a warm, clean, comfy cabin in the woods that won't the bank to relax with family and friends, this might be the place for you. The interior wood work (floor, ceiling and walls) gives the place such a relaxed feeling and the split level design is perfect. All the bedrooms are downstairs with the entire upstairs space used as a common area.

If you are looking for a house to rent 5 minutes from the park, this is not the place for you. Its about a 45 min drive to park, which means you are away from the traffic and spending your time in a very quiet environment.

We will for sure be renting this house again in the future.

Liked best: Everything. Felt like a warm cozy cabin in the woods.
Liked least: Nothing. Hot tub was a bit tricky to learn how to heat (Googled it to figure it out), but was by no means a show stopper.

Beautiful, comfortable, great for star gazing from lanai, spacious, peaceful home located in the middle of the woods. If you haven't experienced a place like this while on vacation this is the place to be. You get more than what you pay for, very reasonable.

We made an excellent choice to spend our stay. You couldn't find a better person than Scott,(owner), easy to work with and knowledgeable about any question you have.

2 miles out from the south entrance to Yosemite Nat'l Park made it easy to visit the park as often as we wanted including short drives to Bass Lake, Mariposa, Oakhurst town etc. Sauna & steam bath perfect to have after a days outing.

Excellent weather didn't need a/c or fireplace. We had all the comforts of home right here. Great place to spend the day to relax when we decided to do nothing except to bar-bq, tell jokes, laugh, sing, have cocktails and dance hula on the lanai surrounded by tall lush trees. Short walk to the fish camp general store for last minute stuff.

We enjoyed ourselves so much we'll be back. Thank you for the house Ruza built.

“A quiet haven only a short distance from the Yosemite National Park”

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The House that Ruza Built. The location was excellent, close enough to the Yosemite National Park (2 miles to the South Entrance) but away from the crowds. The house is spacious and quiet, with a well-equipped kitchen, good laundry facilities and Wi-Fi - all essential when travelling with teenagers. It was spotlessly clean throughout. Our only disappointment was the non-working gas grill and no outside table to allow us to eat outside.
